Pizza Hut Turned My Complaint Into a Compliment!

This happened some time ago, but since I'm here talking (and reading) about some problems with customer service, I thought I'd post something positive. Strangely, this starts out almost like a complaint.

I order a pizza from Pizza Hut one day. The total was eleven something, and I had a twenty. The delivery guy comes to my apartment and I hand him the $20 as I take the pizza. I turn and sit the pizza on a desk beside the door, but when I turn around I don't see a pizza guy there with my chain. I step to the balcony and I see him getting into his car and driving away. I believe in tipping the delivery guys, but over $8.00 for an $11 something pizza was a bit much.

Honestly, I was aggravated at first as I called Pizza Hut. My first thoughts was that this guy had purposely done this in order to snag a big tip. The manager at Pizza Hut was extremely nice and apologetic. We decided that I would stop by the next day (I lived nearby) so that I could get my change.

When I got there, they gave me a whole pizza there instead of my change. I was pleasantly surprised. The manager apologized again and even the driver apologized. He said that the order before mine was an $18 something order and he had gotten confused. He was also tired as it was quite late when I had ordered.

It's strange in a way. My first thoughts of the delivery guy was that he had stolen my change, but his story made sense. It just goes to show you how a little mistake can turn into a great eating experience (although I would have been just as happy with my change as I would have a whole pizza).

Oh yeah, way to go there.*SARCASM* I hope you liked your spat in
pizza. Try this site. www.tipthepizzaguy.com They probably thought you
were a cheap stiffing customer and figured out a way to keep the full
8 bucks and have a laugh.

You must be a nice person because I could easily see this going the
other way. Someone else might have been insulted by the free pizza
and demanded the change instead, or both! You were very understanding
and forgiving. The world needs more people like that.

What a great Letter! It's nice to know there are still people who put
the customer first. It's great to read good experiences like this! I
probably would have reacted the same way at first had that happened to
me. It's nice that you at least gave them the chance to make it right.

Excellent letter, Lucy! Just wonderful. While I"d rather have the
option of having $8 or a whole pizza (what if I'm not in the mood for
pizza again?), I"m glad it was acceptable to you.

Mostly, I'm pleased that everyone was reasonble, understanding and
fair. Thanks for the great letter.
