Help Me to Continue Ordering from Pizza Hut

Posted Wed January 2, 2008 12:00 pm, by Neilliza S. written to Pizza Hut, Inc.

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

Tonight (1/2/08) at around 4:42pm I called Pizza Hut here in Broadway, Vallejo, Ca for delivery. They said the wait time is about 105 minutes, I said fine since it was still early and I really wanted Pizza Hut and to try that new Mia Pizza. Well I waited and waited about 6:02pm came they called me back and told me "I'm sorry to tell you maam, but we ran out of Mia Pizza". I said, "what? after you guys made me wait for this long and your just telling me now". She said, "I'm sorry I just found out", I was too furious to even say anything else to her, I wanted to cuss her out because I was so mad. Instead while she's asking me if I wanted to cancel or order something else I just said "Whatever" and hung up.

That to me is not the right way to treat customers. I mean I would've understood if they called me way earlier than that, but they made me wait for about 1 1/2hr and to tell me. Not only did the wait made me mad, but I was really hungry and I wanted some Pizza from Pizza Hut.

And to also let you guys know, a few months before this incident I had another problem with a driver too. I ordered pizza and they gave us about 2hr wait time and I said fine. I had all my nieces and nephew too, waiting for pizza. The bad part was the driver didn't get to our house until about 2 1/2 hr - 3hrs later. I was so mad already, but he apologized and said he was new and he just moved to Vallejo, so he wasn't familiar with the city. I forgave him, but didn't give him a tip because of that. The worse part was, I forgave him for what? The pizza was so cold when I sunk my teeth into it. I was mad, because that is not how long a customer should be waiting and the pizza should still be hot when it gets delivered.

You guys need to work on the customer service at the Broadway, Vallejo, ca 94589 Pizza Hut. And when things like this happen customers should get the order for free or something similar for free. A customer should never be given a choice to cancel, they should give the customer complimentary pizza or order for messing up. I don't know you guys decide, but please do something about this.

Pizza Hut is my favorite pizza place and I really don't want to go to another pizza place. Because of this incident tonight, I called and ordered from Domino's Pizza. They have good customer service, but Pizza is nothing like Pizza Hut. But I'm pregnant and I was craving pizza so I ordered at the next place I know. I was satisfied with their customer service, but the pizza gets a 7 out of 10 rating. If I had Pizza Hut I would have been really satisfied, since I got Domino's I was only partly satisfied.

Please do something about this, so I can continue ordering from Pizza Hut.

Thank you.

1. I understand that your pregnancy may be causing you to react to
certain things differently than you ordinarily would. I've never been
pregnant, but I have suffered from hormonal imbalances and I've been
there. I've also watched my mother go through menopause and various
friends go through pregnancies (at the moment my mother-in-law is in
full swing menopause -eek!). While a hormonal imbalance may explain
your rudeness, however, it does not excuse it.

2. The person who called you to inform you they were out of Pizza Mia
was not to blame for the supply. She was just someone doing an
unpleasant job the best way she could, and you made that job harder.

3. You might try ordering your Pizza Hut online. I know it seems
counterintuitive, but I have found that online orders are more often
filled correctly. That's probably because a certain amount of human
error (both on the customer's and the employee's part) is eliminated
by seeing the order in print.

you were "about to cuss her out" and then when she tried to
speak, you cut her off with a rude "WHATEVER!" and hung up the
phone????

I would have sent you a juicy turd in your box at that point. Choke
on your next pizza, butch!!!

Wow! You have to wait that long for a pizza?! And I thought 45 min.
was a long wait! lol

I can see your point! I would be a little pissed in your situation.
Although, with the other situation about the driver, I would have
still tipped him. It seems pretty cruel to have him drive all the way
to your house and get nothing for it! Give him a break, he's new! It's
probably more the company's fault for not making sure he knew where
all the destinations were.

OK, first off, you knew the wait would be long. I understand really
having a craving, but there is no way in Ireland I'm waiting nearly 2
hours for pizza.

Second, while inconvenient and frustrating, if they were that busy
(and have typically been as busy in the past), it's not so out of the
realm of possibility that they didn't notice they were out until that
point.

Again, frustrating to be sure, but not deliberate and certainly not
warranting free food.

Third, you were "about to cuss her out" and then when she tried to
speak, you cut her off with a rude "WHATEVER!" and hung up the phone?

Geez! What a sweetheart you are!

How do you know she wasn't PLANNING on comping something to you but
you so rudely cut her off, she never had the chance?

Pregnant or not, your snotty attitude was WAY out of line and uncalled
for. Given what you wrote here, I wouldn't have been inclined to do
anything for you either.

Well, I can certainly sympathize with you!

When I was pregnant with my second child, I had INTENSE cravings for a
certain type of orange. I would eat a 10lb mesh bag full of them
weekly for about 4 months.

One day, after hitting all the grocery stores in our area and not
being able to find just the right oranges, I actually broke down and
sobbed right in the middle of Safeway. I felt totally out of control.

Sorry folks, some of us have raging "horror-mones" during pregnancy
and no amount of commentary is going to convince us we're in the
wrong. :D If this lady wants a specific pizza she MUST HAVE IT!

As an aside: my son is now 17 years old and hates oranges. Go figger!

I didn't go past the second page, but there appear to be at least 2
Pizza Huts in Vallejo.

Maybe you could order from a different Pizza Hut, although there may
be boundary issues.

Maybe you could go pick it up yourself. It would be hotter and
faster, and the gas money and tip would probably be a wash.

Maybe you could try the pizza from one of other pizza establishments.
There's a lot more to the world of pizza than Pizza Hut.

You do not need help in continuing to order from Pizza Hut because no
matter how many times they mess up your order, have a bad delivery
person or do whatever you will still go back because you like their
pizza.
You want pizza you will order it.

Try D'giorno's...its really great pizza and the rising crust style is
fantastic. I also add just a bit more cheese and toppings depending on
the amount of people who will be eating it.
But its really the next best thing to delivery pizza.

Ok, I used to be a waitress at a Pizza Hut. At the one I worked at,
the waitresses answered the phones and were responsible for calling
back the customers if there was a problem, not the cooks. The cooks
are the one who are actually around for the preparation. The waitress
who took your order probably had no idea when you called that they
were going to run out of that kind of pizza. Also keep in mind that it
doesn't take that long to make one pizza; if you had an hour and a
half wait time, that means there were a /lot/ of orders before yours
that hadn't even reached the kitchen yet. It happens. The only thing
you can do is order something else; it would have still got to you at
about the same time, since they were actively working on your order by
then. There was no need to be like that with the girl on the phone. If
you were that upset, you should have asked to speak with the manager
right then rather than hanging up on someone who had no control over
the situation.

something about this."

It doesn't take five paragraphs to ask for free food.

Lady, at least be honest about what you really want Pizza Hut to do.

Get over yourself. They called and said they were out, stuff runs
out.

1. Choose a different pizza instead. The wait would have most likely
been the same amount of time, as they were just getting around to your
order.

2. If you desperately needed a Pizza Mia, have a snack, cancell the
order and order from a different Pizza Hut.

Its pretty simple- they ran out. Their supply company will most likely
bring more ingredients today or the next day.

I can understand your frustration but next time you may want to take
a few breaths before writing and sending.

If you asked to speak to a manger then and there maybe they would
have substituted something else for free.

Don't stress you have to relax and stay calm for the baby.

My advice to you is that since you are pregnant and get really hungry
like that, if they tell you it will be an hour and a half (which IS a
long time to wait), have something to munch on while you are waiting
so that when a problem such as this arises you won't have become this
hungry and this angry as is reflected in this letter.

How is that not good customer service? They called you and let you
know they ran out of an item. It isn't like they left you hanging and
never called or came. You seem like a drama ..King.

My middle cat is Mia. I don't think I would order a pizza that's

I agree with the others.
Too much drama and too much info.
Of the feedback letters that I got in business those that prompted me
to action were usually on the short side and to the point.

Perhaps they didn't know earlier.

You're going to have a baby so grow up and don't pass this attitude
onto your child.

Ok, so I'm reading the letter and I'm actually thinking in the upper
paragraphs, I bet this woman is pregnant=-) I remember one time when
I was pregnant with my daughter and hubby ordered pizza. I
specifically told him what kind I wanted, but he went ahead and
changed the order anyway. Well, I didn't have him call the pizza
place back, instead, I stewed all evening about a friggin pizza! I
know several other stories similar to this that happened to other
"mommy" friends of mine when they were pregnant. It's like your
hormones just take over. At any rate, this obviously isn't an excuse
for not being polite over the phone. It's entirely possible that
Pizza Hut ran out of the stuff for their Mia Pizza in between the time
you called and the time that they were ready to prepare your order.
It sucks that they didn't inform you for an hour and a half, but
that's life. 6:00 is still plenty early enough to either order
another pizza, fix yourself something, or go to another local
restaurant. I agree with a previous poster that the second incident
you describe should have been left out of the letter. If you didn't
feel it was important enough to complain about when it happened, you
should just forget about it. Consider rewriting this letter and
leaving the emotion out. Don't mention anything about wanting to cuss
anyone out or anything about your pregnancy.

Reply
by Cor H Posted Thu January 3, 2008 @ 6:52 AM

Leave the part out about the previous delivery problem. The letter is
about the current incident and adding a complaint about something that
happened a few months ago only servies to pad it (The OP has obviously
not forgiven the earlier driver, despite her assertion, as this would
not be brought up now if she had).

If nothing else, you succeeded in gaining my sympathy for the
employees of that particular Pizza Hut, including the driver. By your
own words, they sounded sincerely apologetic, and you come across as
being very immature. I hope it's a case of your current state and not
an example of your usual behavior.

by Adam D Posted Thu January 3, 2008 @ 12:56 AM

They may not have treated you right from a customer service
standpoint, and I can see why you are upset, but you then proceeded to
act like a 10 year old, and treat them even worse "I said whatever,
and hung up, but I really wanted to cuss her out" really? Is that
the way an adult behaves? Keep in mind, if you treat them bad, and
you order a pizza from them, it may taste funny because they have
computers and know who you are from your phone number. Best not to
bite the hand that feeds you!
