Pizza Hut VIP Program is a Ripoff

This complaint is in reference to the Pizza Hut VIP program, so it is a Pizza Hut corporate problem, not a store level problem.

I have been a member of their VIP program since it started. Basically, they say that with every two pizzas you order you will receive a coupon for a free large pizza any toppings. You pay $19.95 for one year program benefits.

I have not received any of my free coupons since May (which were for the April orders). I have called their program service line at 866-847-3444 on four occasions and have been told an array of lies and promises.

The first time I was told that there was a delay but they were mailed out the previous day and I should receive them within the week.

Three weeks later I was told that yes, there are many people not receiving their coupons but the problem has been fixed and I will receive them within 2 weeks.

Another three weeks later I called spoke with perhaps the only truthful person who told me that I do indeed have many free pizza coupons due me, but there is no real estimate on when the coupons will be received. I had an addition concern that since the coupons have an expiration of just 3 weeks when they are received and I have five pizzas due me, will there be any extension to the expiration dates? I received some double talk that I could not tell if it was just poor communication on her part or purposeful double talk. I also needed information about another possible problem. I am now splitting my time between two cities but have the same phone number at each location thanks to Vonage. I asked, since the orders are in two locations 100 miles apart, do I need to change my information when I go from place to place or will the phone number be enough? I was told that the phone number is how they track my pizzas so if I place my orders online at the second location, I should have no problems.

I called again today, a little over six weeks since the last call, and spoke with a man. He said that all my past due coupons have already been sent. When I asked him for the details, he reported only two coupons were sent. I advised him that not only did I not receive those coupons, but I am due several more free pizzas than just those two. He conceded that I was due one more free coupon but this is nowhere near the real number due. After that, I started to receive lots of double talk and an unwillingness to help.

After that conversation, I called three of my friends who are also on the VIP program and all three of them are also having the same problem with not receiving coupons in at least the past 3 months and one of them has also been complaining and receiving double talk and false promises of coupons being sent.

I want Pizza Hut to look up all my orders at both locations and send me the appropriate coupons for my order. Since eating 5 pizzas (going on 7 for my August and September orders) in just 3 weeks is unrealistic, allow me at least 10 weeks from when I receive them before they expire.

I actually worked for the agency that created the VIP program. The
agency's name is Hawkeye Communications and is based in Dallas TX. Our
agency actually keeps the info for coupons and all the data needed.
The call center you called is actually people hired to take complaints
and praise from all customers. If you really want to get to the root
of the problem, I would call the agency and ask to speak to the head
of the data department. The agency laid off everyone who created the
program after Pizza Hut approved the program. We were all screwed.
They hired cheaper artist and account people who don't have any pride
in the program. We launched it in 3 cities and was highly praised at
the time. I am sorry to hear the program is failing. You can tell them
the senior art director who helped create the program told you to
contact them. My name is Ron James. It has been a few years though.
Hope this helps all of you who are being ripped off. Blockbuster video
also had problems when we handled their account. There was a class
action suit, maybe you should get all others to go in on one against
Pizza Hut.

LOL, dang how much pizza do you eat? Just kidding. Anyways, I would
demand a refund for the fee you have paid to them for this years
"dues" and also the coupons for your inconveinence! Good luck!

The page on the Pizza Hut site that covered the VIP program has been
removed. There is no remaining reference I could find to the program.
I found one customer reference who reports the program was cancelled
(5 months old).

I have just one question: how do you use the words "Pizza Hut" and
"VIP" in the same sentence and still try to make a serious post?

Send Wesley his VIP coupons please. God knows Pizza Hut is awful and I
firmly support local mom and pop pizza shops for a better product. I
am spoiled in CT with good pizza.

Pizza Hut VIP program. This is a sign western civ is coming to an end.
