Complaint forwarding confirmation

Posted Thu June 21, 2012 12:07 pm, by JERRY M. written to Planet Feedback

I recently entered a complaint to State Farm Insurance and received an email indicating that it was recognized by PF. However, about a week passed with no response from SF, which could be accurate. The problem is, I really don't know if PF really followed through. I would suggest that you incorporate some kind of acknowlegement that complaints have actually been forwarded to the company, otherwise we never really know for sure. I say this because when I went back to my complaint on PF, there was an email address for the SF CEO. Maybe this is done when it is sent, but how do we know that? At any rate, after a week or so, I copied the complaint body and sent an email to State Farm inquiring if they had received the complaint. I received an immediate acknowlegement reply and was contacted the next day by a claims manager. My question was not directly answered. This makes me ask the question, was the complaint actually sent to State Farm by Planet Feedback in the first place? Would you please confirm, or was there a problem? How about a better method of informing us that the complaint was actually forwarded to the company?

Not all companies reply to letters from PFB.

Some do. Some even reply here on the forums.

But not all of them do.

If you truly want a response from a company you should consider
contacting them directly as well as using 3rd party sites

I sent a complaint about a local Mobil gas station, via PF. PF sent
confirmation that they'd received the complaint, and had passed it
along.

About 2 months later, I received a snail mail from the owner of the
local Mobil station. This contained a very generous gift certificate.

I thought that 2 months was a reasonable amount of time to hear back.

Give State Farm a couple more weeks to respond. Or, as Bill R.
frequently recommends, "Shoot a letter to" State Farm or your agent as
well.

Some companies do not respond to third party inquires. I'm sure PFB
sent the letter but this mays one of the companies that doesn't answer
third party inquiries. Personally, I always think it's best to try to
contact the company on your own (unless there's an issue you want
others to see) and go to PFB when you don't get results.
