PlanetFeedback edits of posted letters

Posted Thu June 14, 2007 1:05 pm, by A. R. written to PlanetFeedback

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

Hi- this is my letter here:

http://www.planetfeedback.com/index.php?level2=blog_viewpost&topic_id=299888

which I chose to post on planetfeedback.com.

However, my posted letter does NOT have the title that I wrote when I chose to post it- why is this? And why was I not emailed/told that you were going to change MY words? I understand that it is your website- by that is my name on the letter, implying that everything in that letter, including the title, are my words.

If you're going to change the content of what I am choosing to post, I think you should notify me before you do so.

This was not a case of my leaving a bank account number or credit card number in a posted letter, or something else that could lead to security/identity theft problems. Nor was my original title vulgar, inflammatory, etc.

Again, if you're going to change what I have chosen to post, I think I should receive an email/reason as to why you are changing my words, before you attribute someone else's title to my letter.

I would appreciate it if PlanetFeedback would not change titles without letting the letter writers know.

hi. i know you are upset that they changed the title, but the one
they wrote is actually the best title i've read here so far. not that
i expect that to make you feel any better.

when they send the letters to the company, they aren't actually
prefaced with the titles at all, are they?

I was under the impression that was just for the site alone - couldn't
understand why the company would need a "title" for a letter.

Just Wonderin' . . . . . .

So, what WAS the original title? If it was that important, I must
know!

They did not change the title when they sent it to the company, just
when they posted it on 15 minutes of fame. It should not be a big deal
either way to you, but since it bother's you that much perhaps they
should change the title back. If they can edit it once they sure can
edit it back. BTW what was your origninal title.

Thanks for your feedback, A.R.

Generally, the only time a title is changed is when a letter is
selected for our 15 Minutes of Fame. Otherwise, we let the title
stand the way it was written. Congratulations on having a letter
selected for 15 Minutes Of Fame!

Our TOS states that we reserve the right to edit any letter on our
site as we see fit. Unfortunately, we're not always able to notify
the letter writers when a change is made however we'll certainly keep
your suggestion in mind as we move forward.

If it's anything like the title of this post, I completely understand
why they did ~ maybe so that it actually RESEMBLES an actual sentence
and is not missing important things... such as nouns. Nouns are your
friend. Really really.
