Philadelphia is NOT a Washington ariport, Priceline

I purchased airline tickets via Priceline. I selected the orgination city as being open to the nearby airports. Nearby airports in the Washington DC metro include BWI, DCA and IAD. A nearby airport is not Philly airport. Philly airport is over two hours away. To my surprise my purchase, Priceline has me leaving from Philly. Now I have to leave my house at 1 am in order to get to the Philly airport for the 2 hours prior required in order to meet my flight and this includes the traffic and tolls and getting my 3 kids up at that time. It should have been clear what the radius is for an nearby airport. A nearby airport should include airports in a 50 mile radius. Due to this error, I might have to leave extremely early as stated above or leave the previous day and stay overnight.

I would like Priceline to modify my airline tickets so that I leave from an actual nearby airport which includes BWI, DCA and IAD.

Priceline offer to cancel the tickets and refund me the fees in 5-10
business days. I put in leaving from IAD and going to ABQ. It gave
me the option to select nearby airports to get a lower price. I did.
It processed PHIL and I don't think I had a chance to confirm before
it was processed.

Why would you confirm this flight if you didn't want to do it?

I imagine there is a number you can call to either change your flight
or even cancel and book them through the airline yourself if you
wish.

I can't imagine buying airline tickets without being 100% positive as
to the departing airport. NOt even to save $100. Why take a chance?

That seem resonable to me. I've heard enough stories like this that I
would never use Priceline or any of those sites. Good luck.

so I was curious about Priceline. I went there and tried to look up a
fare from DC to ATL (for an example), and it only gave me the options
for BWI, DCA and IAD. I tried on Expedia, and saw that Philly was the
12th on the list of "nearby" airports - and that it was 118 miles
away!
Very strange.

They should have a "name the airport to fly to your airport from" feature! by Steve OH (IO) Tue November 3, 2009 @ 8:10 PM

Sha-Meen A.,
Sounds like a pain.
However, I just got done making a dummy reseravation on Priceline to
replecate what you describe. Not knowing your final destination I could
not get their system to offer an alternate departure city though.
What I could get it to do though was state clearly where I was going
to be departing from and arriving.
That being said Priceline.com appears to have done their part and the
perceived problem occured due to oversight on your part.
We arrived at the airport in Orlando at 4AM for a 7AM flight two weeks
ago and found the TSA folks to be very friendly at that hour.
Stop back and let us know what stance Priceline takes.
