Charmin Toilet Paper

Posted Thu April 10, 2008 3:27 pm, by Kristine K. written to Procter and Gamble

I think your company must be in trouble as far as Charmin goes. Your advertisers have come up with a sick gimmick to scare people about "leaving fewer pieces behind", which is dumb and supposed to cause fear among the masses. I have read so many bad things about your toilet paper that I wouldn't buy it, and now I won't double buy it because of the slogan.

Start making a better product, then you won't need such an idiotic advertisement.

I love the new STRONGER Charmin! It really is! I also
love the giant rolls. Loading a new roll is a snap if you use the
adapter to your dispenser.
I also play Charmin Dimension Mahjongg. As I wait for the new game to
start, the Charmin advertisement plays. I actually find myself
enjoying the bears.
The team that created this ad campaign gets an A+.
Thanks Charmin.

I don't care about commercials; don't watch TV.

What I DO care about is -- WHERE ARE THE REGULAR ROLLS???

Have used Charmin for years. CANNOT use the big, huge, giant, super,
larger than a house rolls. Tried them - HATED them. Cannot use them.
Period.

Now what? Look for another brand. For sure. They want to FORCE us
to use what size THEY want us to use. WHERE IS OUR FREEDOM OF
CHOICE????

Furthermore, I went to their website and tried to email them. Click
the email button, you get this: "Sorry, you are not eligible to email
us..."

Since when is a customer "eligible" to make an inquiry????

What an INSULT!!!

I think I will make sure I do not buy ANY P&G product, from now on
into the future. After all, they have insulted me and taken away my
choice.

Goodbye, Charmin. I will no longer squeeze you!

For 40+ years I was a loyal Charmin customer. The changes you've made
to have two different types of toilet paper: soft and strong; (neither
of which are as good as your regular Charmin prior to that change)
have forced me to change to Quilted Northern.

The soft is too soft and falls apart when using it. The strong is
rough and not very absorbent. I am completely dissatisfied with this,
and will not use Charmin until you get one product that actually
works.

Signed,

Sad to leave my loyalty to Charmin

YAY! I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks this commercial is
ridiculous. First of all - in regards to their previous ads, bears do
not use toilet paper - does anyone remember the old Eddie Murphy joke
about a bear asking a rabbit if he has a problem with s*** sticking to
his fur? I mean the whole charmin advertising campaign has been
terrible for years and now...less pieces? AAAAAIIIIIGGGGHHHHH!

have any of you tried Charmin BAsic? I did and it feels very much
like wiping your butt with paper streamers! Just wondering if I was
the only one...

I don't like Charmin either because it clogs the tiolet and is too
thick. Is stick with Scotts. A whole roll lasts a long time, not two
days as a Charmin roll would. Plus Scotts is cheaper. Charmin sucks!

what is with commercials these days? at least it's not one of those,
as bill mahr calls them, boner pills commercials. those are the ones
who make me want to puke. all the people look smarmy, who has a
bathtub in a field, and i can no longer even stomach elvis' great
"viva las vegas" anymore. whoever came up with these should be, in
the words of my mother, "taken out and horsewhipped."

I can take the Charmin Cartoon Bears any day over those sickening
Petobismol commericals. Those I can't stand, and I have no intentions
over ever buying their product again.

These commercials can both be flushed down the toilet for all I care!

Toilet paper has come a long way since Mr Whipple's day. And ehile I
like the cuter more subtle commercials evidently Charmin thought the
consumer should want to not have tissue stuck to their bums.

I do not like Charmin because it clogs my toilet...and other brands
like Scott do not. So I choose the softer variety of Scott tissue
now...works just as well as Charmin and my plumbing bills are much
lower.

I can't say I've seen this commercial, but after reading Brenda's post
explaining it, I have to say the visual picture I get is *icky*. I'm
not so sure about the fear amoung the masses part, but its still gross
to think about.

Not the most businesslike letter, but it rises a chuckle out of me.
:-D Especially the double buy it part.

to buy it.

So that's what is in my underwear. I know a lot of people scared to
look in their shorts, and this must be why. Thanks for spreading the
word.

Ok for everyone who wants to know, this commercial is for their "Ultra
Strong" toilet paper. It is supposed to leave less bits of toilet
paper stuck in your bum like the flimsier papers do and absorb more.

(You asked..)

Not sure how that is supposed to cause fear among the masses
though.....

This commercial doesn't sound familiar. It sounds a bit gross. I
know that I find the TP commercial with cartoon bears on it to be
rather insipid (I don't remember which brand that's for--there's
ineffective advertising for you).

What does the bear do with the used toilet paper? by MD B. Tue May 20, 2008 @ 9:13 AM

by All About the Branding Posted Thu April 10, 2008 @ 4:38 PM

Is your issue that Charmin is a low quality product? That it's made
from baby seals? Or that these ads are well, gross?

I double dare you not to double buy it.
