Reduced quality of shoes

Posted Fri April 27, 2012 11:13 pm, by Ray B. written to Propet U. S. A., Inc.

Propet markets walking shoes. In the past I purchased and used up two pair of Life Walker Strap shoes. These were purchased in a "bricks and mortar" store. The store went out of business. I went to purchase on line. I find the shoe has been cheapened. I originally purchased because the padded collar aroiund the heel of the shoe was made of leather-leatherette. It would last the life of the rest of the shoe. Walmart would sell me a similar shoe at half the price. The difference was that the Walmart shoe had a padded collar around the heel of made of cloth. Within 6 months the padded collar on the Walmart shoe was worn out and ragged. It was embarrassing to wear the Walmart piece of junk. Now Propet has replaced the heel collar with cloth. I have no reason to believe that it will wear well.

I liked the shoe the way it was. I see in Propet's advertising that they think that their cloth is durable. I find that unbelievable. I can't see a visual difference in the Walmart cloth heel innerliner and the Propet. The only really strong reason to pay twice the price for the Propet was the apparent quality difference.

Propet's sole wear was a problem. They offer a 1,000 mile or 6 months sole wear guarantee. Its the heel that wears out. A wear block in the heel could extend the life of the shoe to more than 6 months. It is clear. Propet has cheapened rather than improved their shoe. You will have to give me actual reasons to buy when you charge twice the price. If yours is only a 6 month shoe, I can buy Walmart, throw them away every 3 months, and be at a break even.

I agree, my spouse had a pair of Propet shoes that wore out
prematurely and the company, when contacted, had a "so what?"
response.
