Poor quality of crepes.

Write a Letter to this Company

My boyfriend and myself went to lunch on 11/6/11 at the Mentor,OH Ruby Tuesdays located on Diamond Center Rd. His meal was fine and mine not so much. I ordered the chicken crepes on the brunch menu. I was presented with two crepes. One was extremely undercooked and the crepe was too thick and "doughy". The chicken contents were "mushy". The second crepe looked like it was made by someone else. It was cooked to perfection. It was crispy a bit on the ends, light and fluffy and the contents tasted pretty darn good.

I informed the waitperson of the first crepe which was inedible and her reply was "I wish you'd told me sooner".
However earlier she was nowhere to be found and the place was filling up quickly with diners. I did eat the second crepe and sort of lost my appetite.

I know a bit about crepes as I spent about a week in Paris and enjoyed many varieties of crepes.

The meal was a bit less than $12.00. At the least I should have been give a crepe to take home that was cooked.

"I know a bit about crepes as I spent about a week in Paris and
enjoyed many varieties of crepes."

Hands down, best line I've ever seen on this site.

They totally wouldn't have taken you seriously until you said that.
Now Ruby Tuesday knows they're not gonna pull one over on you.

You know, "I wish you'd told me sooner" isn't that bad, but it should
have been followed with another response, like comping your entree, or
offering to make you another one, or something.

Weird that one was so bad and the other was so good. I wonder if the
first one was made first and sat under the heat lamps.

Plus, I'm pretty used to wait staff stopping by my table earlier than
when I'm done with half or most of my entree. Usually, they come by
within the first couple of bites to see how things are, and I'm not
talking about *nice* places doing that, but tavern type places. Even
the place we go to that has hit-or-miss service is pretty good about
checking on the meal early on (although it can take a while to get
initially served or get our check).

You should have been given a replacement crepe or offered a reduction
on your bill.

Agree with the others that are criticizing Ruby Tuesday's. They were
never that good to begin with imo...and now they've gotten worse.

Honestly, how many middle-of-the-road American sit-down restaurants do
we need? Applebees, Chili's, TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays, etc etc. etc.

I think you should have gotten something. You spoke up at the time,
and were comparing one crepe on the plate to another.

At the least a crepe to take home, although I wonder how good it would
be later?

"I did eat the second crepe and sort of lost my appetite."

You mean you got full?

You could have flagged down any waitress or a manager to get the first
crepe replaced.

However, comparing crepes in Paris to those you get at Ruby TUesday
seems, well, silly. Of course the ones in Paris will be better.

I'm honestly not surprised at the response of the wait person. I've
given up on Ruby Tuesday's because they just don't care anymore. They
used to be good. Then when they started messing around with their
menu, it just got worse and worse. We stopped going to one location
because the manager just didn't care that the steak my husband ordered
kept coming out well done, then the last one was so rare it was
essentially tartare.

The company as a whole has become a big joke and if you call customer
service, they pretty much dismiss you. So sad for a company, it's no
wonder they've shown up on lists of companies that are rapidly
disappearing.

All I wanted is a crepe that was COOKED or a refund. That's not too
much to ask, is it? I believe the item was $11.95 and .99 more for the
added salad bar plus an ice tea. The salad bar was acceptable and the
ice tea was fine.

Gosh, what a lovely response from the waitperson. Everyone around
her, including her parents, must be so proud. If she keeps on making
such brilliant statements, there is no doubt she'll eventually end up
in management.
