misadvertised stock

I received a flyer that had on sale an anvil pruner 07183537 for half price
I went to our local Sears store where I was told that it could only be processed at a store several miles away, namely a store for Appliance & Hardware.
There was no mention of this item being restricted to any special Sears store (the one I went to sells appliances and hardware)
After many years of being a loyal customer, I resent being stiffed by Sears with misleading advertising.

Have all Sears stores sell the items advertised in their flyers.
If the items are not for all stores, make sure the flyer showa where the items can be purchased.
I feel that I should be reimbursed for the full price that I finally paid, due to misrepresenting advertising.

Not all locations carry the same items. Many times it is simply
demographics. Certain demographic areas are more likely to purchase
certain items. When I worked in retail I would often have customers
looking for items in my store that were available in some of the
higher volume stores in the area. They would get mad but there was
nothing I could do about it.

Many times the Sears stores that are small and only sell appliances
are called Sears Hometown Stores. These stores are franchised
individually owned and operated stores. If the flyer says "Sear's
Hometown Stores" on it than those prices are usually only valid at
these smaller franchised stores. Also on the back of the Sears
Hometown Stores flyer is usually a listing of participating stores in
your area where the ad is valid.

Fliers are often printed up in advance.

Which means they might not have that item in stock.

And sure it's in the flier but if your local sears never carries that
type of item to begin with, it's not misleading at all.

I mean sure we have a sears here but it's a tiny one that only carries
a small selection of items. Sure I could demand they carry the full
line of products but... that's about as reasonable as demanding they
carry a TARDIS too. There's no room to fit everything here.

Although ... if they got a TARDIS in stock that would fix the storage
issue I guess. ;-)

much every flyer I have ever seen says "At participating locations
only", or words to that effect. I'm sure if you searched the
fine-print of the ad, you'd see something similar.
