Sour Skittle Mouth Issue

Posted Fri June 2, 2006 8:37 pm, by Elizabeth E. written to SKITTLES

Write a Letter to this Company

I purchased a bag of Sour Skittles today and am upset about the sores in my mouth that occured after eating this product. I like sour candy and it has never had this effect on me. It really hurts and it is hindering my ability to eat and enjoy other foods. This product has completely ruined the skin in my mouth. I tried to write Skittles on their website but it would not accept my submition.

at least give me a refund or some other type of compensation

Were you ever able to make contact with the company? What was its

Did you see a doctor? What was the doctor able to do for your mouth
problems? Was the skin in your mouth permanently damaged?

I just threw a bunch of these "sour" skittles in my mouth and am
almost regretting it. at first it was a wild ride, but then It really
hurt. When the pain went away I tried some more and it was ten times
more painful!!

WOW- just the last few days I have encounted the same problem as you
described.two days ago I bought a bad of sour skittles and the next
day my tongue actually started peeling- it was weird but no
pain...then the next day came( so 2 days after I first tried these
sour skittles) and i bought some more and began to eat them on the way
to pick up someone.....my tongue started to burn and bleed( a spot in
the middle), the sides of my mouth( particillary the right side is
peeling, bleeding and is in much pain) and the gums behind my 2 bottom
lower teeth have ebcome sore and irritated now my jaw area and neck
feel sore and its kind-of sore to chew...should i take some actions
too and e-mail them?

That's interesting. Sometimes something really really sour can
actually 'burn' your mouth, but since you're used to sour candy, I
don't know why Sour Skittles would be any different.

If the skin inside our mouth is completely ruined, perhaps you should
see a doctor, although it will get better on its own eventually.

I would want more than a refund for a bag of Skittles if the damage to
the inside of my mouth was as severe as you describe.

Come back and let everyone know if you hear from the company. I'm
curious as to their explanation if any.
