BOLO for spam texts from spam phishing "company"

Posted Sat June 30, 2012 11:59 pm, by . .. written to SPAM PHISHING COMPANY

INFORMATIVE REVIEW. Keep a lookout for similar scams.

I just received the following txt to my cell phone:

"Your entry last month has WON! Go to http://www.target.com.thhd.biz/?claimid=11 * and enter your winning code "6655" to claim your FREE $500 Target Giftcard!"

First off, yeah I know this ain't Target. That's why I'm not addressing this letter to them. They're just as much of a victim as those who fall for this scam. I don't know who it is and wasn't sure if the TOS allows me to post the phone number they sent the txt from.

But I did find similar posts at http://www.callercenter.com/ relating to the same scam.

So, if anyone else here gets a txt telling you that you won a free target card, don't click any of the links.

* Note: this URL looks official at first, until you notice that it's really a .BIZ url and not a .COM... they're just hoping people are clueless enough to not notice it.

Anyway, keep your info safe and don't fall for any fake promises of winning gift cards.

And remember, it's not the real company doing it - it's coming from jerkwads who want to steal your info - or your banking info.

Does "DIAF" count as an answer?
