Your Business Borders on a Joke, Spirit Airlines

Posted Thu September 4, 2008 12:00 pm, by Peter H. written to Spirit Airlines

Write a Letter to this Company

We recently booked a flight to Florida for Christmas direct from LA to Ft Lauderdale which Spirt proceeded to cancel and create a stopover in Detroit. We weren't happy about that but accepted it and were told to go online to make our seat reservations and pay for baggage in advance. This frankly is rediculous but not really the big problem. We ran into numerous errors on the site not allowing us to do either of the above and telling us to call the airline. Apparently your home office is now in India where they one do not speak english very well, two are very unknowlegable about the airline and three Spirits website stinks. All in all your site as well as phone contacts are extremely unhelpful other than to tell you that you must do all your bookings online though online tells us to call them. With the continued problems online they finally told us we couldn't book until ninty days before the flight which was a lie as our friends who we are traveling with booked the same flight online two days before with similar problems I migh add.The airline even had our address wrong which could not be changed online and after much adoo our lovely and unhelpful Indian airline employee reentered the right address which still doesn't show right online and hasn't been verified by email which she said would happen immediately. Both my wife and I spent in the neighborhood of six hours yesterday trying to resolve this with it ending with our talking to a supervisor, India Indian of course, who promised to resolve it and did nothing. It was funny that when we hung up with hime he asked if there way anything else he could help us with when he didn't help us with anything in the first place. Your business frankly borders on a joke with no service and people who haven't a clue what's going on in the business.

What can we do.... You tell me as we're now researching flights with another airline in that we can't book seats which means we could get bumped when we go and we have a cruise ship to connect to. I can promise you that if we do take this trip and we are thinking of cancelling altogether, we will never travel Spirit Airlines again. Interesting enough we are members of a large country club in the Palm Springs area;, 1000 members and this letter is going to get published in our monthly newsletter and you can imagine how many of we retired folks like to travel in our old age. Thanks for making a very messed up airline business even worse and perpetuating the fact that many people don't want to fly anymore.

I hate the airline industry, the bailout was among the worst ways to
waste 15 billion taxpayer dollars. This is the aftermath, ever since
2001 service has gotten worse and worse till now it's almost
nonexistent.

I have such empathy for you. I hope you get some sort of response but
I wouldn't count on more than a form letter.

If you have the means charter a flight, Jetblue in LA can do a nonstop
for about 33k each way. If you are doing any business during the
holiday it might be worth it.

Another way around the airlines is to get a pilots license and buy or
lease your own plane.

I have no advice, only sympathy. That I've never had a problem
booking tickets to go anywhere makes me grateful for having the luck
o' the Irish. I can only imagine your frustration and aggravation.
