Upgrade Mess

I recently called to upgrade 3 lines as the devices were Nextel and the network is being decommissioned. The representative was able to upgrade the lines and waive the $10/line for smart phones, as I would not have continued with Sprint if we had to pay these fees - resulting from the network shutdown.

Unfortunately, I received my bill, only to find that I had been charged $116.48 in activation fees. The representative never indicated that these fees existed.

Sprint should pull the recording of the call from the call center to verify that the representative did not mention these costs. The activation fees should be refunded and Sprint should provide an account credit for the hassles.

My boyfriend lost his cell phone & purchased an upgraded phone. He had
to pay an activation fee. He has AT?T phone service. The activation
fee was indicated in the contract.

Check your contract.

As another poster mentioned, it is stated on every cell phone that an
activation fee is required. I would think that would have been the
same for any other cell phone you had. So it is the consumers
responsibility to read what is on their cell phone.

Every cell phone user has to pay an activation fee no matter what
cell phone they get.

Most companies have a web site that you can go to in case you have any
questions. Using their website would prevent any unnecessary confusion
& hassle.

No matter what phone you pick, there is a note under each one that
says *Activation Fee Required

Its also all over the website about activation fees
