This Location Does Not Live Up to the Starbucks Experience

Since moving to Houma, Louisiana in August 2008, I am very unhappy with the customer service at Starbucks located at 1731 Martin Luther King Blvd. In the past 8 months, I have experienced deplorable customer service. From sarcastic comments made at the drive-thru window, not having my favorite coffee Breakfast Blend in stock, to not supplying me with a sleeve for my hot coffee.

For me my experience on Sunday, March 22, 2009, was a tipping point. Last night, an employee was surely. Apparently, she is not educated about Starbucks' policy. From the east coast to the west coast, each time I purchased a pound of Starbucks coffee, I have been asked, "Sir, would you like a free complimentary cup of coffee?" On the other hand, at this location, I had to ask for a complimentary cup of coffee. Agitated, she scoffed at me. I asked to speak with the manager. According to her, the manager works in another store. Unfortunately, much to my chagrin, she would not give me her name or manager's name. Again, I asked her to give me a person with authority. Finally, she huffed and told me, What! You want me to write this information down. I thought her behavior was very condescending.

Empower their employees to know the company mission and policy. I love the Starbucks brand. Much to my dismay, this location in Houma, in my judgment does not live up to the Starbucks experience.

This was the policy when I lived in Florida as well as SC and NC. Each
time I bought a bag of coffee I received a comp cup of coffee.

Not that the point of his letter is the free coffee.. it's the
service.. which sounds atrocious at this location. With their prices
you expect pleasant service. I'd be ticked too if I'd been treated
this way.

I have never been in a Starbucks, but then if it is after 10 am I shut
myself off from coffee. I know ppl drink it all hours of the day and
night.

After all the complaints I see about Starbucks, why is it so popular??

Interesting, I've never been offered a cup of coffee when buying a
pound of coffee at Starbucks. So, if it is company policy, many
people aren't following it.

Must say, I could never 'ask' for a complimentary cup of coffee. Much
less ask for the manager if I didn't get it.

However, sorry you had an unpleasant experience. If it were me, I
would go somewhere else.

It says you need to search the local store's calender for when they
have "coffee tastings". No where does it say you get a free cup just
because you ask for it.

I also have never heard of this policy and I frequent Starbucks often
as it is like 10 feet from where I work. I have never heard them offer
a complimentary cup of coffee.

Can you prove this is a policy? Or maybe you just got lucky with the
other places?

Did they outright refuse to give you a sleeve for your coffee? Or did
they just not offer one? Sometimes employees are told not to offer
paper bags, drink carriers etc and give them only when asked.

I'm sure they wish as much as you do, that they weren't out of
Breakfast Blend. For whatever reason they were out, I doubt it was on
purpose.

Maybe someone here knows what this free coffee policy thing is. If it
is not a nationwide policy, then I can understand why the employee
scoffed at you.

Ive never heard getting free coffee when getting a pound of coffee.

But then again, I have only once stepped inside one. I went in their
with group of friends only to see a person working whose prior job
must have been a tatoo artist because every exposed piece of skin was
tatooed and piercings abound.

I was like wow! Guess I prefer the clean cut, nice crisp uniforms,
and professional looking cashiers, not someone who looked like they
came out of a mosh pit.

Not to mention their wayyyyyyyy to expensive coffee and snacks.

Good Day
