Suave Kids shampoo makes my wallet and hair smile!

Write a Letter to this Company
Dear Suave,
I just wanted to thank you for your Kids shampoo!
I am 22 years old, so I am not a kid anymore (only at heart!), but my hair is so thin and can get unbelievably oily as the day goes on. I have tried several adult/"normal" shampoos and nothing helps, even if it is for thin/oily hair. When my hairstylist recommended a $9 bottle of "special" shampoo for my fussy hair, I got a little worried because I am a college student on a budget.
Then I decided to try your Kids shampoo because it is advertised as mild yet effective. And obviously, because it is Suave, it was affordable. I bought the Berry Burst scent and . . .
I LOVE IT! Not only does my hair smell great, but even with styling, my hair does not get weighed down or nearly as oily.
The "detangling" affect is also wonderful. As a result of all of this, my hair is bouncy, smooth and full of shine. And the affordability of your Kids shampoo makes my wallet smile as well! I have even gotten my roommate -who has the same style hair as mine- hooked on your Kids shampoo! I have bought your Dragon Fruit scent and can't wait to try it when my Berry Burst runs out!
Thank you, Suave!

Kerri, I love this letter. I really love it when people express their satisfaction.
But...
(you just knew there would be a but there, didn't you?)
you really, really shouldn't be using baby shampoo on your hair. Baby shampoo is specially formulated for hair that hasn't seen the kinds of things your hair has seen. They also fiddle with the PH balance so as not to harm a baby's eyes. The PH balance in shampoo's that do sting when they get in your eyes is formulated specifically for hair that has been exposed to the elements. If you chemically treat your hair at all the baby shampoo is going to damage the treatment (if not now, eventually). While I understand you are on a budget and don't think you can afford to follow the advice of your stylist think about it this way. If you pay $8 for a 24 ounce bottle of the shampoo recommended by the stylist and use only the amount you truly need, it will last twice as long as that baby shampoo you are using. You may pay $3.99 for that bottle of baby shampoo but you are purchasing 2 bottles in the amount of time it should take you to use the professional product which basically makes both products the same price. Here is a good guideline to follow...if you have short hair use the size of a dime...if you have medium length hair use the size of a nickle...if you have long hair use the size of a quarter. This only works with the professional products because they are concentrated where the baby shampoo is most likely more watery than the professional brand. To get a good lather from the baby shampoo you'd have to use the size of at least a half dollar or more.
One thing many people don't realize is that it isn't your hair that is oily, it is your scalp that produces the oil and it gets distributed throughout your hair via a hairbrush or your fingers when you run your fingers through your hair (an action that deposits even more oil). So, while this product may be reducing the amount of oil produced by your scalp, it is drying out the hair shaft. Those of you who don't believe me can do a simple test. Pull out 2 or 3 hairs and place them in a safe place (do not place them inside anything), wait until you notice the hair on your head becoming oily, go back to the strands you picked out and note whether or not they are oily. They won't be because they are no longer on the scalp that produces the oil. When you dry out the hair shaft it becomes extremely difficult to repair it. You may not notice a problem now but the problem will surface eventually if you continue to use baby shampoo (not just this brand, any brand).
So, even though I think you wrote a fantastic letter, I really think switching to the product recommended by your stylist would be the best thing. I know you've already purchased more baby shampoo and you should be able to get away with using what you have left before switching but I really do encourage you to switch.
Just in case you are wondering, while I am not a practicing stylist, I was practicing for 15 years and have been licensed for 20 years.

Great great letter!! does my heart good to see a young person so "economically aware!" I have been known as the "equate queen" for years ;) But, I also use suave products! Shampoo and body washes, specially..the way I see it..most of the product goes down the drain anyway ;) So might as well use a GOOD inexpensive product than an expensive one that may not work ;)
I have found that suave.. VO5 and the equate brands of Walmart work just as good as the more expensive brands!
Glad you took time to give Suave a well deserved "atta boy!"
GOod luck to you! :) And always pinch your pennies..before long. you will have a bunch of $$'s ;)

Great letter!!! I use quite a few Suave profucts, and sometimes cannot tell the diffeence from silly expensive brands.
Suave proves "inexpensive" does NOT mean "cheap"

Great letter! It's awesome when the best/favorite product for you is also among the cheapest! I love that.
I'm glad this kind of information can get shared.

Great letter! I, too, have very oily hair and it's hard to find products that leave it manageable without stripping out all the moisture. I'll have to keep this shampoo in mind!

My kids are still little and we love the suave shampoo for them. They also use the body wash which is mild enough for my youngest's sensitive skin. Suave really gives you a bang for your buck!

Kerri, you wrote a fantastic letter!
My teenage son has oily hair, and I just can't seem to find a shampoo out there for that type hair. I will definitely try the Suave kid's shampoo.
I agree that Suave has terrific products at very affordable prices. I use the hair gel in their professional line, and it's better than any of the expensive gels I've tried in the past.
Since you're on a budget, here's another great tip. My family has been using VO5 shampoo as body wash for quite awhile now. It's so cheap and works every bit as well as those ridiculously expensive body washes. I buy the moisturizing ones, like strawberry, blueberry, lavender, etc. or the spa versions. You won't be able to tell the difference between VO5 shampoo and the expensive stuff, even if you have sensitive skin.
