I'm sure you will be attacked because your writing is something short of perfect. But regardless, they should not open 30-40 minutes past what the sign states. You should not be comped in anyway (you weren't asking for that right), but a manager does need to know about it. So I think this letter was written because of a valid complaint. However, if you wish to be taken seriously, your writing needs to be improved. Just have someone proof read it for you. There are plenty of "grammar experts" right here on planetfeedback who desperately need a job. (IMHO)

I wouldn't want to go to a restaurant with a "drive throw", I prefer to have my food handed to me.
No one was forcing you not to eat, that was your choice. There are other fast food restaurants open at that time and you could have easily gone there.
I'm not going to say anything about the atrocious spelling and grammar usage, wow.

You need to learn how to spell. Then once you become more intelligent you might be able to get a better job so you can afford to eat somewhere other than Taco Bell.

"I think they sould teach the employee's how to run a store and be good to a customer."
I think you should learn manners. Hint: Never use the word, "A**H****" in a professional letter, (even with the pretty, little stars.)
If the Taco Bell employee really asked you to come back 40 minutes after they opened, I would have asked for the phone number to corporate and let them know the store was not in compliance.
I believe Burger King, McDonalds, Bruegger's, all have stores near Roseville, MN. Maybe you could try there, or pack a lunch.

Erik - 100% behind you on this one - you're right! Not the best written letter ever but I've never been an expert myself with stuff like that. If they don't care about you as a customer you shouldn't go back. You basically told an establishment that you have money that you want to give them and they said come back later. Outrageous!! Not the best way to make your revenue budget for the day. Hope you find another place to eat in the AM - good luck!

I don't think this letter could be any worse if it was written in crayon.
You're not fooling anyone. You were robbing the place because no one would employ you with your lack of ability to put a thought together, let alone a sentance.

Sounds like there was a major problem with something in the store and he just didn't tell you what it was. It's possible several employees did not show up and he was managing it on his own but we don't know and I wish you could have asked him what the holdup was. You might not be writing this.

Way, way, back in the day when I was working my very first job at Hardee's, we came in one morning at 5:00am to find that a hose under the fryer had sprung a leak and our kitchen/counter area was coated in grease. You'd better believe that we did not open at 6:00am that day!
Granted, the employee should have apologized and given you an explanation, but I think you overreacting just a bit.

Nice attitude, Eric. First of all, did you ever consider that they may not have synchronized their clocks with yours? You state that it was 10:02, and they should have been open. What if their computers said 9:55? Does your watch overrule their computers? I have to wonder if your attitude didn't cause the employee to "jokingly" send you away from an almost ready to open store, but even if not, you're upset over one "problem" morning with a place you "always" stop at. Sometimes things happen...have you never had a bad morning? Yet here you are angry and calling names.

For the record, I work about two minutes from the Taco Bell in Roseville. Within a half-mile radius, we have:
McDs (more than one)
Wendy's
Famous Dave's
Burger King
LeeAnn Chin (chinese takeout)
KFC
And that's just what I can recall, and that doesn't include sit-down places such as Red Lobster, Applebee's, TGIF, etc.
Plenty of choices, Erik S.

This is a horribly written leter. May I take the liberty of rewriting it for you?
Dear Taco Bell,
On Saturday, April 14, I stopped by your Roseville, MN location a couple minutes prior to 10AM. I frequently visit this location on my way to work, as they open at 10AM.
I pulled into the drive thru, and waited for someone to greet me, but no one came. I waited for a minute, in case they were still in the process of opening. When I saw an employee, I asked why I had not been greeted yet. It was now a couple minutes past ten. I was told that they were not open yet, and to come back in 20-40 minutes. This would have made me late for work, so I had to leave without getting any food.
I think that if a store posts its hours as opening at 10AM, they should be open and ready to do business at that time, not 10:30 or later. I hope that someone can look into this matter, so that I may continue giving this location my business on my way to work in the morning.
Thank you,
Erik S.
Feel free to cut and paste this in a new letter. You might get a better response. Your letter will end up in the circular file.

Why don't you just fix your own breakfast instead of eating out all the time? It is really that simple. What type of breakfast is Taco Bell? For goodness sakes, eat a salad or a bowl of cereal.

It must be rough in your area...
The only place to eat is one lone Taco Bell.
They have a Drive Throw, where I guess you have to catch the food they throw at you.
And obviously, there are no dictionaries or spell check programs.
You should move.

I am sorry that there is no food whatsoever in Roseville, Minnesota, besides what you can get at this particular Taco Bell. The lines must be horrendous.
But all this seems to come down to "They opened late." There are all kinds of reasons why the store might open late. For example, perhaps the employee(s) who have the skills and/or keys and/or safe combinations to get the cash registers going hadn't arrived there yet. Or maybe there was a problem with the food prep equipment. It might be that the employees do not know how to run a store, but it might also be that something went unexpectedly wrong that morning and they were dealing with it. Since you don't know why the store opened late, I would really suggest being more businesslike in the letter.
Actually, I would suggest being more businesslike anyway no matter what the reason for the late opening is. For example, you might want to leave out the "a**h***" reference and, if you don't say "angry" instead, at least spell "pissed" correctly.
In fact, a letter like "On Saturday, April 14, I arrived at the Taco Bell just before 10 am. The store opens at 10 am on Saturdays. However, I waited for about 5 minutes at the drive through and no-one showed up to take my order. I did spot one employee and asked him, but he said the store wasn't open and wouldn't be ready to take my order for 20 to 40 minutes. I was disappointed as I had counted on having some Taco Bell food for breakfast but didn't have time to wait for 20 minutes, and I wanted you to know why you lost a sale" might be more effective than the one you actually sent even if all the employees besides the one with the broom were in fact inside trying to finish cleaning up from an early-morning methamphetamine-cooking session.
Incidentally, there are places that will sell you food and ship it to you from out of town. I've been quite happy with the Tasty Bites brand. While Taco Bell might have effectively had a monopoly on food in Roseville in the past, as long as you have an internet connection and a credit card there are probably ways that you can get hold of food these days.

Your English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation are atrocious. Your use of the "ahole" word means this letter will disappear before the night is over.
People, Minnesota is top in the nation when it comes to test scores, college entrance exams, etc. Erik must be from North Dakota. Right, SiouxFan? ;)

Whoa, someone needs spelling lessons. What a nasty, utterly illiterate piece of smoldering snot you have posted.
Not to mention an ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT!
Two minutes late, they are, and you're calling them names?
I have a few for you...
"I have no choise [sic] if I want food in the morning.
Yes, you do. It's called get off your duff, go grocery shopping and eat breakfast BEFORE you leave for work.
Oh, and I highly, highly doubt you get absolute no breaks between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Illiterate doofs like you "pis" me off.

Erik, first of all, referring to the employees as '@$$ holes' doesn't win you any brownie points.
That, coupled with your horrific use of spelling and grammar shows little maturity on your part (yes, I went there, but let's be real about this grammar thing - you're addressing a corporation and expect results; this looks like it was written by a nine-year-old with the attitude to match).
I agree that if they're supposed to be open at 10 AM, then they should be open, but sometimes things don't exactly happen on schedule.
There are all sorts of reasons why they might have been running behind.
As for you being hungry the rest of the day, surely they aren't the only fast food joint in town...? You had ample opportunity to patronize another business once you found out that they would be delayed.
