New tampons

Posted Mon March 31, 2008 9:18 am, by Jennifer B. written to Tampax

Write a Letter to this Company

Why did you change what I have been using for years?! You changed the whole tampon itself. I choose to stay with Tampax tampons due to the way it's shaped for over 15 years. When I saw that you had come out with something different, I thought, oh, well, Tampax is good, I'm sure it's still good, if not better.
The originals were long and skinny, not the new fat and annoying kind you have made. I choose not to use Playtex due the shape and that it doesn't fit me. Now, you have made the same basic product only you call it your own.
I had never had any issues with your product until you changed it. It never leaked until it was full. I never had issues, complaints or problems. I loved the old style.

I would like you to offer the original ones back for those of us who really like that kind. Label it as original, or vintage, or something cute, whatever you want. I now have to change to some other brand since I can no longer use your product. It falls out. I'm too small to have something that wide in my body. If you don't understand, ask a woman. She might get what I mean. I would be very willing to go back to using your products if you went back, or at least allowed some of us to use the old style.
Sincerely,
An old, faithful customer of Tampax

I must say that I feel the same way. Why change something that ain't
broke? I find the new "easy to grip" applicator is so tight and round
the tampon its self and the applicator is so slippery (that stupid
little indent with a flower in the middle is pointless)I have to push
the tampon half way out of the applicator before even beginning the
process of inserting the stupid thing and even then i find that I am
squishing the applicator to get some kind of grip on it while tring to
push the tampon in. This is such a disgusting situation that I will be
moving on to something different. For awhile there I still had some of
the old style left and was able to compare the two and there was no
comparison at all, you distroyed a very good product for no reason
what so ever. What use to be an easy to insert, no leaking and
comfortable product to an impossible to insert, leaking and
uncomfortable product. Pls explain!!

Jennifer B: forget all these people complaining about your post -
they are the ones who read it. I feel EXACTLY the same way about
these! I had a baby in December and was nursing, so I just got my
period for the first time...only to go and find my tampon changed.
The only one I have used for 20 years - different. Terrible! I am so
disappointed in them. Had I bought them every month as normal I would
have stocked up on the old ones before they were all off the shelves.
But I am too late to find them and they are nowhere. I'm pissed!
Tampax - you just lost a 20 year customer!

Um, a simple "I prefer the old Tampax, please bring them back" would
have probably been sufficient. I'm just sayin'....

I don't see why everyone is getting their panties in a bunch (hehe!)
over this letter. It's not graphic or disgusting.

I used to be grossed out by this sort of thing and was even was
embarrassed to buy feminine products but after awhile I got over and
thought, every woman goes through it... what's the big deal!?

I thought I made a wrong turn and ended up at the gynecologist's

I wonder if the OP didn't realize there was an option to make the
letter private.

Having said that, since that option wasn't selected and the letter is
open for comments, I think this is good feedback for the company. This
really isn't much different than a food company changing the flavor of
a product except that it's, well, tampons.

Jennifer, I would suggest trying OB. They make a variety sizes -
everything from slim to "fat" - but they don't have an applicator.

Oh, and I'm guessing the reason why the tampon is falling out, depsite
Jennifer being "small", is that she's not able to get it in all the
way.

Now there's a paragraph I never thought I'd write on PFB.

it just slays me and makes me a little sad that we are still so
uptight about how the human body functions that all these people are
going on and on like little puritans. women have periods. if it
weren't for periods, none of you would be here. it's a natural thing
that allows women to become mothers. she didn't say anything you
should be offended by. that being said, jennifer, if the tampon is
too wide, how could it fall out. as an aside, a woman's body
accommodates different sizes of men and tampons, if it's
uncomfortable, you have it in wrong.

Like you,I like the old style also. When I was a girl(70's) we had the
one style with the cardboard applicator, things were so easy then.I
have found that most store brands stick to the old cardboard
applicator and they're much cheaper.I hope this helps and best wishes.

Although I believe it is best for this letter to be private, I
understand you. I'm not going to go into details, but it would be very
fusterating, I agree. Maybe you forgot to make this letter private,
but overall you made a very good point. I don't think you were too
graphic, but it is one of those subjects people may not want to
discuss. I hope Tampax listens, good luck.

In order for Jennifer to make her point as to why the new product does
not work for her, she needed to include a few details as to her
experience. NOTHING in her letter is too graphic for the nature of
her complaint or the product. In my opinion, She handled the topic
with great delicacy and tact.

While this is not something one usually hears discussed in public, it
is something very real and necessary. Let's not make Jennifer feel
bad for writing a legitimate complaint to a company.
