"a receipt dated within 90 days is required for all returns and exchanges"--posted right above the service desk-the return policy at target, as well as other stores now, has been much stricter because of the fraudulent returns that have increased and started to cost target, as well as other retailers lots of money, much in to the millions each year.

If you didn't have a receipt or gift receipt Target is not obligated to return your item even if you're exchanging it for a more expensive one. Without a receipt you have no proof that the item was purchased from them so why would they return it.
And the truth be told if that's the best story you have it's not very likely that you will persuade very many others to join you in your crusade against shopping at Target.

This is a tough situation. A camera is a very expensive and delicate piece of equipment. Because of this it would be tough for any merchant to accommodate you without a receipt. Store managers should have enough authority to accommodate customers on a case-by-case basis.

if you had no receipt, you don't get to exchange a digital camera. Thieves often steal lower end electronics and then try to exchange them for higher end ones, thus paying only a small fraction of the exchanged item's value. This is why Target's policy is no exchanges without receipt.
While this is probably not you, the reality is that it happens frequently in retail and so stores have cracked down to avoid more losses.
You were NOT treated like a 2nd class citizen. The rules apply to everyone across the board equally. This was NOT personal and your insistance that the Team Member be "fired" for not violating policy and capitulating to your demands is immature and rude.
You aren't furious because you were mistreated, you are furious because you didn't get your way.

It appears you wrote this letter as a knee jerk reaction to your expirience. You should have waited a little while because this letter will likely not get you what you want. It is important to be nice and express your concerns clearly. Maybe you should a new letter again latter.

I too can only assume you did not have the receipt. No receipt no exchange or refund regardless of how many TV's you were buying.
This is nothing new at Target and I am sure you friends probably already know a reciept is required.

I will assume that you did not have a receipt for the camera therefore are "targeting" Target for their return policy.
However, these policies are put into place for good reason. And you are not exempt just because you write a letter trying to bully them and requesting that the staff get fired for doing their job.
In fact the staff should get a raise for not cowtowing to your ranting.

I get this crap all the time.
Anytime a customer does not get what they want they always say the person they were talking to was rude. This applies to almost 90% of my complaints.
If you try to be nice, you get called a smart you know what, and if you are firm, you are rude.
Good Day

probably result in no response. There is nothing actionable here. For starters a few details of why the camera exchange was refused and how the staff was rude.

The staff were inconsiderate and rude . . .
I don't see where in your letter it states "how" the staff were inconsiderate or rude as you don't elaborate or offer any other information on that point.
As the letter stands now, I have a feeling where it'll end up when the right person at Target HQ reads this and it won't be in the "In" box . .
