OVERCHARGED for a Target Rib Eye steak (new Grocery section in Mays Landing, NJ Target)

I was overcharged for the rib eye steak I bought at Target the other day, Aug. 2009!!

It was supposed to be on sale for $5.15.
When I got home, I realized I was charged $9.45!!

I am not a happy camper!

Offer a $10 Target Gift Card to anyone who realizes they have been overcharged!

And if it is more than 25% overcharged, (like in MY case!) make it a $20 gift card.

I was left with a real bad taste in my mouth after this experience..

Regardless of pricing per pound/unit watch the register as items are
being rung up. I typically put "sale" items at the end of the order so
I can watch the amount on the customer display screen. Then if a
different price comes up I can address it immediately. No compensation
required.

Best of luck to you receiving that from Tar'jay!

Or here's a novel idea: Refund you the amount of the overcharge and
apologize nicely for the simple error. The end.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the steak.

Was it an overcharge? by PepperElf Thu August 20, 2009 @ 5:56 PM

Yeah, that's not clear by Zan Fri August 21, 2009 @ 2:01 PM

Um, you certainly do not deserve a $10, let alone $20, gift card.

My wife and I were just at the store that we frequent ribeyes were on
sale for 6.29 per pound we got two and paid over $ 15.00 for both. I
agree with Rowdy Retailer this was a per pound price,

Did you bring this to the attention of the manager or the customer
service desk at the store? If there is indeed an error, they will
likely be happy to fix it for you.

Like previously mentioned, this likely was by weight.

Errors happen, and you mention this is a new grocery department. I
don't see how a $20 gift card is warranted in this instance. The state
of MI has a law that guarantees a cash bonus in such instances, and
even this has a cap of $5.

You sure the price you were suppose to pay was not by the lb. ?????

Ribeyes are not sold by the unit, they are by the lb.

Good Day

What did the store say when you contacted them?
