Abhorable treatment of a pregnant woman at Target

His name was Julio. He was the assistant manager at the Target store in Albany, CA when I was there over a year ago. The experience was so bad, I'm writing about it a year later and am still furious. I also will not go to that store ever again.
I was given many gifts for my baby shower, some that were and some that were not on my registry. I did not have a receipt and was told I might get store credit. I was 9 months pregnant. The people at the return counter made repeated mistakes, not being very helpful and making me come up with all the possible solutions. That's just bad customer service, but that's not the worst of it. Each time they needed manager override, they would call Julio. He was the single most rude, calloused individual I have ever met. He didn't look at me, didn't talk to me, but stood in front of me talking to the employees about "this lady" in a totally insulting tone. I cannot control whether or not someone gives me a gift receipt. After two hours of going all over the store and Julio giving very little instructions to the staff 3 different times then leaving again, I start having contractions. I am almost done with this nightmare of a shopping/return experience, and now I am in pain and crying, and the associate calls for Julio one more time. He comes up and says, "What's her problem?" I could not believe it. I was so amazingly upset that I was not able to drive home and had to call my husband. Julio is the worst single employee I have had to deal with in any industry in my entire life. As a customer service professional for over 15 years myself, I would never have hired this man, let alone promoted him to assistant manager.
I hope and pray that a year later Julio no longer works there. The worst case scenario is that his incompetence and cruelty to customers was ignored and he was promoted or transferred. Please look into your employee records to find Julio at the Albany Target around June of 2008, and that's your man. Then Julio needs to be counseled on proper customer service techniques. I can recommend a few classes I have sent my staff to if you wish. If Target cared about its customers, and based on my experience you go there for the prices, not the service, it would take my complaint seriously, even though it is being filed a year later. I only hope that no one else has had to suffer the quite literal pain and anguish Julio's thoughtlessness caused. I would be happy to share my experience and expertise if that would be helpful, otherwise, Target just needs to better develop a culture of service. Or honestly, I may just stop shopping at any of your stores. Thank you.

This is a valid complaint--a year ago.
Who knows if Julio is still working for Target anymore?

Yeah, being treated this way is pretty awful.
It's become a regular thing for me since I became unable to speak.
But in my experience most people who are not on the receiving end of it very often don't grasp how upsetting it can be, especially when it happens day after day after day, and they do not take it very seriously when you complain about it.
Good luck, though.

A shame that you had to deal with such horrible behavior.
Personally, if I was 9 months pregnant, I probably would not be shopping!

So... even though you were having contractions at 9 months of pregnancy, you wanted to go through trying to exchange/return items for which you had no receipt? Honestly, being pregnant isn't a wild card that entitles a shopper to an exception to the return policy being made.
And hasn't Target since revised its return policy with regard to the registries, if no receipt was given?

I really don't think they are going to listen to a complaint from over a year ago, even though it sounds like he was VERY rude.
I know for me, I would feel better having just written the letter anyway.
