So today I go to TARGET really just to price some stuff and see if I needed to pricematch. Saw the great Oatmeal deal...where you buy 5 boxes and get a $5 gift card...well not the best deal, but we are oatmeal eaters so it wasn't going to be something we didn't use. I am shopping with Breta today and we also look at the BIC pens since we still have lots of those coupons from both Target and from the newspaper. Now when I came in I saw AMANDA working and should have went with the feeling I had to just come back again....after all she was inspecting my bag last week when I purchased some razors for the $5 gift card deal...with coupons!!!
So I didn't listen to the small still voice inside...I went on and shopped sad sad sad story to follow. I put my pens, coffee, play dough, oatmeal on the belt and have a NEW TEAM MEMBER cashier...really nice. AMANDA comes running herself over and asks the NEW TEAM MEMBER was everything ok and did she need anything? Well she didn't call her over so why would she be asking her that? COUPON PROFILING!!! COUPON PROFILING!!! So then she pulls out the coupons and starts reading them and says to me that I can only use one coupon per transaction. I said ok well no problem let's just break up the order oh then she has the AUDACITY to say no I mean per visit. I said does it say that on there? Well no, but you will need to leave the store and purchase each item...has she lost her MIND? She has obviously lost something because I know my COUPON RIGHTS....How can you purchase the 5 boxes of oatmeal to get the $5 gift card without purchasing them all at once??? HMMMM. So all the coupons I have been saving over the year from the BOX that QUAKER put the coupons inside of can't be used at one time? I am sure QUAKER will want to hear about this...you think? One per transaction??? I asked and when did that start? She said WE (now she owns the store) are loosing a lot of money with coupons...TARGET loosing money...HMMM
Well don't worry this will be settled and I will get it in writing from the Guest Services Department to follow up with my readers!!!!
I know TARGET will be interested to hear as I will speak with them in the morning at corporate and then email the District Manager's administrative assistant. I am hot like fire...are the savings worth it? Yes they sure are...Ms. AMANDA you picked the wrong COUPON MAMA to talk to any kind of way this time...
AMANDA needs to apologize to me for trying to embarass me and also she needs to learn the COUPON POLICY...

One per purchase = one per item(s) purchased. If the manufacturer wants it limited to one per transaction, the coupon will so state. I've seen a few of them that have. General Mills and Quaker most certainly DO want you to be able to use more than one like coupon per transaction; I've asked them myself.
I rarely shop Target any more, for just this sort of reason. The big box retailers don't train their cashiers beyond the minimum. You know you're in trouble when you know more about store policies than the employee does.

You got a little carried away in your letter, but your complaint is valid. You had to purchase the five boxes in one transaction in order to receive the gift card, and you should have been able to use five coupons. Target's gift card promotions do not prohibit the use of coupons, to my knowledge.
However, you seem to have some sort of history with this store regarding coupon usage, so maybe that's why they gave you a hard time. On the other hand, according to letters I've seen here, Target can be a bit ornery and inconsistent about accepting coupons. The coupon policy should be consistent and not on a customer-to-customer basis or at the manager's discretion.

The store has the right to place limits on purchases whether they have coupons or not.
This should come at the direction or Supervisor or Manager, not a clerk though.
She is a bit misguided, the store does not lose money on coupons, unless they are fraudelent.
What excessive couponers do is make life miserable for the normal shoppers who want to purchase items. They in turn cant get what they want, due to excessive couponers, splitting up orders, making lines longer for everyone else etc etc.
Regualar customers have to deal with this. If I see that it is happening, I will limit the purchases. Im not going to let a few excessive couponers ruin it for the rest of my customers.
Good Day
