resetting my online account

I recently moved to a new location. As of tonight, I went online to register my new account so that I can set up recurring online payments. When I tried to register, the system said that I already have an account and advised me to click on "forgot my password" to get my information.

Unfortunately, I don't remember my sign in name either so this doesn't help at all. On top of that, the password information is being sent to my earthlink account which I don't ever use.

I just spent 30 minutes on hold with customer service only to let me know that my account cannot be reset. He said he'd give me my old account number to try to get my old information but, again, it would be sent to my earthlink account that I don't use so I don't remember my password or the email.

I just want my online account to be reset. Why is it so hard? Does Time Warner not want their money on time?

Time Warner wants to make sure that the person using your account is
you.

They don't know whether the person calling to get the account reset is
you or someone else who wants to use your identity. The only way they
can be sure it's you is to use the means of contacting you that you
originally gave them and to have you produce at least some of the
information you originally gave them.

Suppose I were the one trying to get your account reset. When all of
a sudden you were responsible for paying for my eleven televisions
connected to cable and all my Pay-Per-View movies, you'd probably be
asking how they made it so easy to reset the account that I didn't
even have to know your sign in name or your password or how to log in
to your EarthLink account. How can Time Warner not know, from your
previous history, that you would never watch the "Best of Both Worlds"
concert 17 times in a row?

You can try to make a new account by altering some of your details --
if you gave your name as "Dorim L" you could now call yourself "Dorim
T L" or something -- or you can keep pursuing this with the company.
But I would expect it to be difficult -- it has to be, to protect you.
