Stolen Animal

When time warner came out to install my digital phone service when they left they left with my cat of 8 years. My cat was raised on an eye dropper and was considered my child. I have no children so my animals are my children and to think that I let the person who stole my child into my house just makes me sick. He was a black cat and being so close to Halloween makes me worried of what they will do to my baby.

I would like them to go to these employees house and see if they still have my cat and if not they need to be fired. My cat would never have left my house my door has been left open for at least and hour or two and they have never gone anywhere so why now. The only difference this time was the fact that there was 2 employees and the job only needed on and they were talking a foreign language in my house so who knows what was said without me knowing.

This might be a stupid question but I am curious if you contacted the
police or did you just write to the company using planetfeedback? If
so what did they say?

I am completely sure that they didn't steal your cat, and that the cat
got out when a door was left open. Just because your cat didn't go
out on previous occasions didn't mean he didn't get a little freaked
out at strangers coming and going and slip through when he had the
chance. I've had several terrifying instances of cats getting out
(including one getting out twice on me, and she's on meds and is a
total freak, so she couldn't have survived out there) and every time,
I was a wreck. But each time made me more vigilant and careful. I
doublechecked doors, windows, etc. People (including me) make
mistakes.

You should apologize to this company for your groundless accusation.

You could have spent all this time posting flyers and going
door-to-door, hoping to find your cat. When my medicated cat got out
overnight, I spent two days combing the neighborhood. Time is of the
essence.

I'm sorry that your beloved cat is gone, but it's your own fault.

And shame on you for blaming employees who speak a foreign language.

I am sincerely sorry at the loss of your pet and do hope you get him
back.

That being said... I think it takes an awful lot of audacity to flat
out accuse someone of stealing your cat. Unless you saw the worker
take him, you have absolutely no call to make such a severe
accusation. Yes, I know you are missing your pet, but these are
serious allegations you are making, and to randomly suggest someone's
home be invaded and that person's livelihood taken away because you
ASSUME he took your cat is absolutly outrageous and, frankly,
unforgivable.

Cats get out. Never say "oh, my cat would never go anywhere". You
just never know.

And that bit about "speaking a foreign language in my house" and the
assumption that they will do some evil harm to your pet makes me
suspect you are more than a tad prejudice, not to mention extremely
paranoid.

I also have to point out that the fact that your cat was raised on an
eyedropper is completely irrelevant to this letter.

Bottom line. I hope your cat is found soon. In the meantime, may I
suggest you refrain from making outrageous accusations against people
you don't even know about situations you cannot prove?

Frankly, the fact that you wrote this letter nauseates me.

This letter has given me pause. Which, compared to some of the
letters here, says a lot.

You've accused them of stealing your cat?!? Do you have reason to
think this? Did you see them pick up the cat and carry it away?

It sounds like they left the door open and the cat got out. Yes,
that's bad, but it's a far cry from stealing.

You throw out there that maybe these people are going to somehow
torture your cat or do something evil to it, because it's close to
Halloween? That's not fair, unless they said something to you like
"hey, we love to kill black cats on Halloween."

Unless you have evidence that they stole the cat, there is absolutely
no chance of them searching the employee's home. No way. Will not
happen. No. And if you have evidence of a theft, you need to contact
the police. Who will then need to go to a judge and get a search
warrant. If you're able to provide enough evidence that satisfy the
judge.

Look, I feel for you. You must be devistated to have lost your baby.
But accusing people of stealing and potentially tourturing you cat
isn't fair.

I'm even going to go into how it's unfair to assume that people who
are talking to each other in a different langauge are NOT necessarily
plotting to take your cat.

Or how silly it is to think that two people would show up to do a 1
person job, just to take your cat. You may love it, but I find it
hard to believe that this was some sort of plot. Unless you have
money and they sent a randsome note.

I hope you get back your cat. But, unless you have evidence of a
theft, TW ain't going to do a thing for you.

Might I ask why you weren't keeping an eye on the cat, if you were so
worried?

Black cats and Halloween by RedheadWGlasses Sat October 14, 2006 @ 7:35 PM

Being an Animal lover myself (especially cats), I sympathize. That
being said, I had a similiar thing happen to me, luckily I found my
cat. I had a service provider over to my house as well, and my cat
never left the house. Well the techician let the cat out because he
was standing at the front door, and it took us 2 days to find him. I
freaked out on the technician (I was upstairs working on the computer
and didnot realize for a few minutes what had happened) and he was
like sorry I tought that he wanted to go outside. I was annoyed but I
learned from the exerience, now eery service provider is told PLEASE
DO NOT LET THE CAT OUT --I also have a sign on the inside of my front
door (in English and Spanish) just in case the verbal instruction is
not understood.

I hope that you find your cat safe, however I do not think that you
should say that they STOLE your cat. Where were you when this
happened? Why would they just steal your cat? It is not fair to
accuse someone of stealing if you do not know 100% that they did.....I
wish you the best, I hope you find your cat. Also if your cat is just
wandering the neighborhood (cats get out especially if they are
spooked by a person that they do not know), then you need to write a
letter of apology not only to Time Warner but also to the technicians
in question.

Please come back and tell us what happens.

I can't even imagine what you are going through right now.

I am so sorry.

Please come back and let us know if your cat ever gets back!
