Using front-panel AV inputs on TWC HD DVR

I'm trying to figure out how to use the auxiliary input on the front of my SA HD DVR. There's no information on the box, the skimpy materials that came with it or readily available online.

The "video source" button would seem to be the obvious switch for this, but it doesn't do anything. Does it need to be activated?

There is NO source of information for basically simple questions like this.
