I purchased a Toshiba 65 hm167 TV 6 years ago for 2,400 dollars. This year the DLP chip is failing. This chip was produced by Texas instrument and has failed in Samsung and Mitsubishi products. All the companies are aware of the problem yet I believe only one is replacing these chips even out of warranty. Toshiba customer service wanted 38 dollars to tell me what I already know. Toshiba could care less if your out of warranty and are not taking any responsibility for the failure. So I'm stuck with white dots all over my screen. I can try to fix it myself or pay an outrageous repair bill. More or less if I scrap the TV it will have cost me 400 dollars a year to use it. What happend to quality? This is the last Toshiba product I buy!
Toshiba needs to step up to the plate and fix the problem for the customers they are well aware of the chips failure. They may think they are saving money by ignoring the problem, but when customers vow to never buy a Toshiba product again they are loos by far more money.Plus people knowing and reading about the failure will hesitate to buy Toshiba products.
