Write a Letter to this Company | Rate this Company
WHERE: TOYS R US North Bergen, NJ 07047 store
WHEN: 7/03/2008
PURCASED: $192.45 in product
WHY: 1.) Customer services poor. We handed floor rep list of products we were looking for. He said TRU did not carry. We would up finding every product he said your company did not carry.
2.) Floor rep did not even offer substitute products - just walked away.
3.) We spent 2 hrs looking for all products by ourselves, while holding a toddler.
4.) Floor was unclean and unkepmt (i used to shop there regularly and it is one of the worst managed stores I have ever stepped into)
5.) Waited 15 minutes for the only register to clear
6.) Asked to speak to manager, waited 15 additional minutes.
7.) Asked manager for discount or some sort of incentive based on this absolutely poor experience; he said he would not give any.
8.) We told him that we would complain to corporate, he said fine. That he would give us his regional managers name and number
9.) He left for the name/number and disappeared. We waited and waited and then left store.
This was a horrible shopping experience and turned my wife and I off to ever shopping at a TRU again. Left a sour taste in our mouth.
Please give us a reason to shop at TRU again. A complimentary gift card would bring us back to one of your stores. I urge someone in your corporate in Wayne to drive 45 minutes and see this store in North Bergen.

Why don't you try shopping with the Personal Shopping department in Times Square? It's a bit of a distance from where you reside, however, it is cost free, and removes the hassle of you looking for anything. They can search for items for you based on the age, gender and disposition/likes of your child, and if an item is not in stock will give you options, including ordering it in next day if available in their warehouse(via phone or in person with credit card info)! The Times Square location has a UPS store, so they can ship to most anywhere in the world, and the ladies that work there are knowledgable, helpful and a complete pleasure to work with. Granted, they are not perfect, and will not have what you are looking for every single time, but 99.9 percent of the time they'll come through with a smile. I assure you, one experience with them and you won't go back to digging around for toys for yourself.
As for your dilemma, sorry to hear that you had such a terrible time. It definately sounds like they need some work. Why don't you contact TRU's Corporate Office? The number is (973) 617-3500. I hope that helps!

You say you've regularly shopped this location before.
Did you receive personalized service back then? If not, why would you expect it now?
TRU is really no different than Walmart in that respect. Would you walk into Walmart, hand the first employee you saw your shopping list, and say "Go fetch?"
I'm thinking no.

1) Toys R Us Employees are NOT personal shoppers
2) Put your kid in a shopping cart. That's why there are lap belts in the front part
3) You can't seriously expect an employee to know where every item in the store is any better than you do.
4)Corporate will find nothing wrong with the store, as they could care less as long as the store is turning a profit.
5) Corporate visits are constantly being made to stores. My store had a District manager come every 1-2 weeks. TRU policy doesn't include paying someone extra to be a personal shopper.
Have a nice day, and don't expect personal shoppers at any other store you shop at.

1. Go to store.
2. Look for item in aisle where you expect it.
3. Place item in cart.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get to the end of the list.
5. Ask saleperson for help in finding any items that couldn't be found.
6. Get any items missed. Put them in cart.
7. Go to register.
8. Pay for items.
9. Deposit shopping list in trash can outside TRU.
10. Go home.
Why do you think you deserve compensation? For standing around and acting helpless?
Your letter left a sour taste in my mouth.

1.) Toys R us employees are NOT personal shoppers
2.} If you are gonna shop for 2 hours with a toddler, bring a shopping cart or stroller.
3.)asking for an outright discount or freebie is very tacky and you probably won't get anything.
4.)So you are turned off by going to Toys R US? but you can be BOUGHT back by getting a free gift card? Personally, the thought of being BOUGHT to return to a badly managed store would turn me off even more.
5.) There are other TRU stores in the area, go to one of those except this one that you already knew was badly managed....oh yeah...I forgot...you wanted something to complain about to get a free gift card.
