I'm Confused About Tracfone's Inability To Help

I lost my phone on a plane Saturday, so I called Saturday afternoon to transfer the number to anohter phone. Seemed to go OK, although I wasn't thrilled that it might take 72 hours.
On Monday I received a message that the number had been transferred. Well, that was wrong. So I called Tuesday to try to get things working. Seemed to be making progress - the rep was trying to transfer the remaining minutes. Then he said there was a problem requiring another dept to resolve, and they had gone home. So, call back tomorrow. this was a 40 minute ordeal.
So on Wednesday, I called back and spent 50 minutes with 2 departments, talking to Asher, then Lolita who told me "something is wrong" and they have to involve a technical department to resolve it, and it would be resolved in 24 to 48 hours. So, I call back today and I'm now at the 20 minute mark. I've been transferred to another department and made it through Riana to Donna. Riana couldn't access my old information, although the people before her could, and then Donna can.
Supposedly I will get the number transferred and activated, but not the voice mail. Donna tried to tell me that they can't transfer VM when there is a new handset, which is, of course, inaccurate.
So, now I'm supposed to get a call from Anthony within the hour. Of course, I was supposed to get a call from Lolita today, and that did not happen.
Sprint gets slammed for their customer service, but I have to say they are waaay better than Tracfone
Activate my phone, transfer the minutes, allow me access to the messages that may have been piling up, and give me back about 2 hours of my life.

mom just had the same issue kinda.
she washed her tracfone and ... it somewhat died.
she called me up for help and advice...
i had her take the chip out - to see if it can go in the new one and had her buy the exact same phone again.
once she had the phone, she charged it up and called the company up.
the phone number was transferred within the hour (she bought the new one yesterday i think).
no trouble whatsoever.
only issue she had was... she found out how long it takes to properly set up a cell phone with all of the old contacts. (I had set up the original one for her)
i hope they can fix things for you.
that kind of a wait isn't normal

One of the stores I worked at sold Tracfones. Nearly every week a customer would come in because they had problems with the phone, adding minutes, lost/stolen phone, etc. They wanted us to call Tracfone for them thinking we would get better customer service. Unfortunately, that was wrong. They refused to speak to anyone in the store and would only deal with the customer. Sometimes the customer didn't understand what the service rep was asking them to do. Tracfone's customer service is one of the worst I have ever encountered. You should consider using a pay as you go phone from AT&T, Verizon, etc.
