UPS Sent Me On a Wild Goose Chase!

I have lived in my house for five years and have ordered numerous items through UPS. Not until this holiday season have I ever had a problem with a delivery. First, my package was left at an obviously vacant house in front of me. Weeds have taken over the property there are no curtains, no furniture and NO MAILBOX!!!! The package sat there for about 2 weeks before we realized where it might be. We contacted UPS who called back a week later to apologize and assured us that they would make sure the drivers paid more attention to deliveries. Needless to say, another package I ordered next day air I was on the lookout for. I knew it was supposed to be delivered today. No sign of it anywhere. I looked online and it said delivered to the rear door. Rear door??? I looked all around my house for a package...nothing. My husband went to the vacant property...not there. The package wound up about 1/4 mile away at another house on the back porch!!!! Luckily my husband wasn't arrested for being a prowler on other people's porches.

The number to our house is on a post in our driveway and our last name is on our front porch. I think UPS just has a little guessing game going on.

RETRAIN your delivery driver or find a more competent one PLEASE! I do not like having to go on a wild goose chase just to find a package! If it is happening to me, it's happening to others as well.

I know where you're coming from. I avoid having to use UPS by all
means possible. I'd rather deal with the United States Postal servce
rather than UPS. That's saying something.

I've never had a problem with UPS. We have a regular driver. He knows
not to knock on the door too loud because it sets the dog off. He puts
small items between the screen door and the main door when he knows
that no one is there. He's a great guy.

Though, the past few weeks a lot of the times someone else comes to
the deliever the packages who are just plain weird. These are just
seasonal guys, so hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

I'm thinking you've been plagued by some temp. workers.

I also had problems with UPS until I went to the local counter (HUB)
and complained. They immediately took my address, phone number and
within 3 days I had a reply from the supervisor of the driver
responsible for my delivery area. I never had a problem after that
even with new/temporary drivers.

UPS strives to bring the best to their customers. I did try two of the
other delivery systems a few years back and was not satisfied with
either.

Every system has a glitch but UPS went the extra mile to keep me as a
customer so I will remain with them until they can no longer deliver
my packages to that high elevation in the heavens.

It is as you say, probably a training issue. I have had excellent
service for many years now with UPS, but the beginning of our
relationship was a little rocky. The driver left a package up on the
main road and I found it with tire tracks across it!

I used the hub to hold my packages for a little awhile, and then I
returned to home delivery. Everything is fine now. If you get a hold
of your local hub (you should be able to locate this at ups.com -
search for a location with a "customer counter") and explain the
situation to them, they will correct the situation for you. That is
my experience, anyway. I far prefer UPS now to other shippers. Good
luck.

Our co. uses UPS and until now, I've never really had any complaint.

One of our salesmen sent a bid to a broker that HAD to be there by
Tues. I helped him set up the overnight packaging and we shipped it
out. Tues. we hear nothing from the broker, but Wed. (now a day late)
the broker calls, fuming that we have not shipped the bid to him.

My salesman is angry, the broker is angry and all I have is a tracking
from the website that says someone in the mailroom signed for it.

This would be all fine if the broker HAD a mailroom.

Turns out after about an hour's investigation, for some reason, the
driver apparently didn't feel like taking the box to the broker's
offices on the 10th floor, so he dropped it off with a totally
unrelated company on the 3rd floor!

I didn't know who to be madder at! The idiot driver or the mailroom
girl who signed for and accepted the package KNOWING it wasn't
theirs!

It was all straightened out, but only after they asked me to have the
client go DOWN to the other co. to retrieve his package. I told them
to make the girl who signed for it deliver it to HIM since she had
accepted responsiblity for property that was not hers.

But be sure you file a claim to recover your or the shippers shipping
charges because the package was not actually "delivered!"

I have had the same UPS driver for years and years. We've gotten to
know him well, as my husband and I have both had home-based businesses
with a lot of deliveries.

I knew right away there was a new guy training when I tracked a
package that was a day late, and it said "delivered to rear door".
Well, we don't have a door in the rear (unless you count the bulk
head), but we do have a side door. But our deck leading up to that
door is only half finished, and doesn't have stairs! Sure enough,
though, the box was by our slider on the unfinished deck. I'm guessing
he put it on the edge and pushed it over to the door somehow. It's
pretty tough to climb up there without the stairs!!

If there is a new guy training on your route, let's hope it's just
temporary holiday help!

I would call them and complain to them directly (again) so that you
can give them all the information they need to know. As others have
pointed out, most likely this delivery person was hired for the
holidays. If UPS is unaware which driver is doing this however, they
may end up retaining them unaware of the mistakes being made.

I think this has something to do with the season. They hire a lot of
temporary drivers and helpers this time of year.

We normally have a regular UPS driver. He knows that the door to my
foyer is unlocked and always leaves the packages in there. The other
day I stepped outside to find a package outside my door in the rain. I
kept an eye out for the truck the next day and noticed it was not my
regular driver.

sadly you are not the only one here this happened to. Instead of
leaving the package by my door and knocking...they leave it
practically around the corner from my door and I had to go out in the
pouring rain to retrieve it!

I can understand your frustration. The law of averages dictates that
there's good and bad in every occupation. Looks like you're dealing
with one of the bad UPS drivers. I've had better luck with the USPS
and Fed Ex, but some online stores only used UPS.
