Oh Mr. Postman, where is my mail?
Posted Mon April 26, 2010 7:59 pm, by Jennifer S. written to united states post office
Where is my mail Mr. Postman? I did not receive any mail on Saturday April 24. I thought this was a little odd but every so often, a day goes by and nothing comes in the mail. But then today, I again got no mail. So where is it? I know something is up because never ever have I not received mail on a Monday. No mail on Monday, well thats almost unheard of at my house. Especially at the end of the month. Not only that but, I tracked a package I am expecting and according to your website, it went out for delivery THIS MORNING. So where the hell is my mail and why won't you deliver it to my house? I know its not the weather--it was a sunny 65 degrees today. I even saw your mail truck drive past my house. And then around noon, I saw you walk across the front lawn of the house across the street, with an arm full of mail. But for some reason you skipped my house! There is no dog in my yard waiting to bite you. My husband mowed the lawn yesterday so my yard certainly isn't overgrown and hazardous. Up until Saturday, my mail has always been delivered without a problem. Sometimes you even deliver other people's mail to my mailbox! So what is the problem and WHERE THE HELL IS MY MAIL???????

What a welcome relieve. You are aware of upcoming bills (etc.) and understandably frustrated. I hope your Federal Representative can and will assist. All the best.

I understand your frustration, Jennifer. We had to get a P.O. box in another town, because of the fact that the post office in Malden, MA SUCKS. I get other people's mail all the time, I run after the carrier to give it back, he just takes it and gets back into his truck, and I have no idea if it ever gets delivered to the right people or not. So I wonder if this has happened to my lost mail. My neighbors are mostly jerks and not as honest as yours are.
Any post office is only as good as the postmaster who runs it. The post office where we have our P.O. box has a a very nice lady in charge, and we've never had any problems getting our mail there. The postmaster at the post office in our town, however, is a nasty piece of work. The problem with getting our mail got so bad that I wrote to our Congressman to get some help. Someone from Congressman Markey's office did contact the Malden Post Office, and I got a nasty phone call from the postmaster, yelling at me for daring to write to the Congressman to complain about his P.O.'s crappy service!
Even though the USPS is a government entity, it is still self-supporting, no taxpayer money goes to support it. However, since it IS a government entity, postmasters such as the jerk in Malden are difficult to impossible to fire. Thus our out-of-town P.O. box!
Hopefully, this was just the screwup of a fill-in carrier, and not a full time problem as I've been having. I'm glad you finally did get your mail.

No mail again today. Don't know if there really was no mail or if it was delivered to the wrong house. I'm not expecting anything other than my mortgage bill but that usually arrives anytime between the 25th and 30th. The mail carrier I saw yesterday is not the usual carrier but alas....if todays mail ends up being misdelivered, I am definitely complaining to the post master.

UGH - don't even get me started on the terrible postal service we have here in Newport, Delaware...
Get ready for MORE problems everyone...as USPS is trying to get rid of Saturday mail delivery b/c they are massively in the red (bleeding cash like Flyers hockey player Ian Laperriere poured blood on the ice in our last playoff game against the Devils when he took a puck to his forehead while blocking a shot)..
So, for those of us with poor service from USPS, things are just going to get worse!
Needless to say, due to my community's poor USPS service, I am adamently AGAINST the dropping of Saturday mail delivery.
My advice? Write to your Congressman(woman) and Senators. Tell them you do NOT want Saturday mail delivery dropped.

were you expecting something specific?
It could *easily* be that no one has sent you anything over that period.
just because the mailperson walked by your house with an armload of mail does not mean that any of it was addressed to you.
You said that this just started last saturday. Give it a day or so. Or if you're really worried go mail yourself a letter to "test" it.
Personally I've gone a couple of days with an empty mailbox. So I know it's very possible to have it happen without there being any issues with postal service.

Geez, I don't know, maybe you DIDN'T GET ANY MAIL the last two days? Is it that difficult to believe? Isn't it mostly junk mail anyway?
My goodness.

Call the post office that handles your mail, or stop in to visit. In my experience they handle questions like this quickly.
As you say, other people's mail has been delivered to your box. The same exact thing may have happened with your mail. This also can be brought to the delivery supervisor's attention once you know if it happened.
I'd suggest being nice when you speak with them. I think they will want to help solve the problem.
