Rude and inconsistant employees

On 8/30/07 I checked in for my flight to Indianapolis at the reno airport. I checked in at 10:30 for the flight that left at 3:35 for Phoenix and on to Indianapolis.
The rudest lady at the check-in counter told me my bag weighed 52 pounds and I had to pay an additional $50.00. This was all the money I had after my trip and I could not eat anything for the next thirteen hours. The really bad part of this is my friends bag weighed 51 pounds when he checked in just 10 minutes after me.

If this wasn't bad enough I asked her for a window exit row seat, as I am 6'5" tall. Lo and behold she gave me a middle seat.

The baggage handlers also broke my brand new suitcase to top all this off.

As you can well understand I will NEVER fly on U S Airways again!

Train your people to be at least a little nice to your customers or you will end up out of business.

Most airlines will let you slide with just one pound overage..
sometimes.. not always.. the rule is 50 pounds. So if you get lucky
with 51.. you get lucky.. but, 52 is pushing it!

The rest of your letter..sounds more like a verbal temper tantrum. You
didn't get your way so, therefore, the check-in person was rude..
yeah..right.

The part about your luggage..the time to complain and file a claim was
when you received your luggage, right there at the terminal.

1) Open overweight bag;
2) Remove an item (or items) weighing 2 pounds;
3) Put removed item(s) in carry-on bag;
4) Proceed to gate with carry-on and $50 in pocket.

It really does not take much in the way of logic to figure this one
out.

You need to explain some points:

1) Why was the checkin agent rude? Was it because she was doing her
job and following company procedure? Does not sound like it is the
employee you are upset with, rather the policy that you agreed to that
you probably did not read before you bought your ticket.

2) Are you complaining that you had nothing to eat for thirteen hours?
Are you trying to say somehow that this is US Airways fault?

3) Have you ever considered the fact that someone already had the exit
window? Also, why not check your boarding pass to see exactly where
you were seated and/or confirmed it was suitable to you? Or is this
somehow the checkin agents fault?

4) If you want to complain, you have to give details. How did the
baggage handlers break your bag? Are you sure it was even them and
not TSA Security or someone else? I am sure the fact your bag was
'new' was probably why it was broken to, eh?

No, I cannot understand why you would not fly US Airways again as it
seems you were the one who inconvienced yourself.

Exit row seats are not guaranteed and many airlines are now charging
extra for those seats.

Overweight is overweight, you have to pay for it.

Did you happen to consider that, ***GASP*** someone ELSE might have
had the exit window seat BEFORE you?

Or would you have expected that person to give UP their seat, just
because you're tall.

If you're that uncomfortable, spring for a first class seat where
you'll have all the room you want.

Until then, grow up and shut up.

I'm sorry she made you so tall. It's not the fault of U.S. Airways,
it's hers.

Most airlines (not just U.S. Airways) have a weight limit for luggage,
and they list this information on their website. For many, the limit
is 50# (and has been for a long time), and yes, you have to pay when
your suitcase is over.

If U.S. Airways did indeed break your luggage, you need to take that
up with them in person, so they can see the extent of the damage.
Depending on the damage, they may offer you compensation for it.
