I Want More Than a Dial Tone, Verizon!

Posted Thu August 9, 2007 12:00 pm, by SUSAN F. written to Verizon Internetworking (DSL)

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

Since returning to Verizon for phone and internet I have had nothing but trouble. In these five months my phone service has "gone down" 5 times. When I call and give my account number I am told that I do not have verizon service at my address and that my account number is not valid. I finally kept calling until I found a rep that was able to locate it. Now you have turned off my outgoing email.

WHY? the readers here want to know... Let me tell you. Overstock.com, a company that I have NEVER done any business with has been sending me emails for two years. For two years I have been asking them to stop. I have written letters and I have "unsubscribed" (after having never subscribed to begin with. I have no idea how they got my address or name). I finally just set my computer to delete their mails from my inbox and send them an email back.

Today when I processed mail delivery, Overstock flooded my email with over 500 mailings. Who was punished? Not Overstock...I was...my outgoing email was shut down and Verizon "claims" they cannot reinstate it for 24 hours. I am losing $6000 for not delivering on a contract due today through email and my son, who is a parapalegic and can only communicate through the computer is completely cut off from the world.

Excuse? "it's in my contract"... if there is suspected mail abuse the CUSTOMER gets punished..even if the customer is NOT the person responsible for the abuse. I am going to look for alternative service. For a company that actually provides SERVICE. Verizon claims to do that, but it is just talk. In the end Verizon treats you like a number and holds you responsible for things that are beyond your control. When I asked Verizon to treat me fairly and deal with the situation, I was told that Verizon "had no responsibility to provide me with any phone or internet service"...their only responsibility was to provide a DIAL TONE to my phone. So what am I paying them all this money for? A dial tone?
No more Verizon!

What you need to do is resolve this problem with the Overstock.com
e-mails. Many other carriers will suspend your account for something
like this. AOL did it to us when my husband started to send out his
club e-mail each month.

S. Brown is right, in order for you to get VZ to do anything about
this, you need to rewrite this letter. I've been in the biz longer
than she has!

I realize you are upset about this situation, but this letter isn't
going to get you anywhere with Verizon. You need to re-write your
post, remove the emotion from it and clearly describe what you are
being billed for and the dates and times of the outages. The fact you
are receiving e-mails from Overstock.com has nothing to do with your
complaint against Verizon.

Trust me - - I have been in telecom for over 20 years and deal with
Verizon everyday. They simply aren't going to respond to this type of
letter.
