FICA score ruined thanks to Verizon

Posted Wed January 3, 2007 9:20 pm, by norma g. written to Verizon Local Telephone (and FIOS)

Verizon omitted to register an on-line payment I made. They actually owe me $158.59. They turned my account to a collection agency - I replied with all my information, copies of pertinent bills, etc., September 2006. I heard nothing in reply, so assumed everything had been taken care of. I am in the process of refinancing my house, and found out today that my FICA score is 100 lower than it should be because this is now on my credit report. The collection agency can't help, and I can't get anyone at Verizon to listen.

I would like them to call me and tell me where I can find someone to help me clear up this nightmare.

I had the same problem with another company. The only solution to
contact The Attorney General in your State, filing a complaint or
complaints against the Credit Bureaus. My issue still has not been
resolved, however, the AG's Office contacted TransUnion twice.

Good luck.

Now this is a letter with substance for PFB. You were legitmately
affected in a negative way and put in a rough position to get out of.

I know there are some laws against incorrectly reporting bad credit,
you might find a department in your state that investigates these
complaints. If you find one, they take care of things but it takes a
while for them to get to it. Good luck.

I've seen it happen. My boss' life partner is a mortgage banker and a
coworker of mine had a very false low FICA. He worked with her for a
couple of weeks to contact in writing and via telephone two companies
who misreported her credit as having been late or unpaid. She had
proof otherwise and by the time she purchased her house her FICA score
had returned to normal.

You just have to work at it. Good luck.

Don't ever assume anything. Make phone calls everywhere to check up
on it. Assumptions are the mother of all screw ups.

Good luck with it! If you have copies of your records, I see no reason
why they should not work with you. What are they telling you??
