Regarding: Verizon acct. #xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
First, it might be interesting for you to note that we were a customer of Verizon Wireless with a perfect payment record from 2003 to 2009.
Perhaps then you could explain why you have reported to Experian a charge-off in the amount of $60 at our termination of Verizon Wireless acount. We sent a copy of our final check to Verizon Wireless NRO at the address provided on our credit report. That check was deposited to the same bank account as previous Verizon payments dating back to at least 2006. The amount of the check is actually $60.95, the exact amount which we disputed, then paid under protest after closing our account. When the account was closed, and our numbers transferred to a different carrier, we were advised by a telephone customer service agent that the pro-rated balance due on our account was $54.34. We paid this amount immediately upon closing our account. Some time later we received a past due notice seeking an additional $60.99, and even later an explanation that we had been advised incorrectly by the telepone representative and that service for the partial month at the end of our account would not be pro-rated. As stated, we paid the additional billing under protest. The total bill for our final month of service was $114.29. In the two installments, this is exactly what was paid.
Verizon received every penny billed. Verizon did not charge off or write off any part of the balance due. Please correct your report to Experian to show that WE closed the account and that it was PAID IN FULL, with no amount charged off or written off.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
Name & Address
We sent the above letter to Verizon Wireless NRO on June 8, 2012. We sent a similar letter with the same cancelled check to Experian on the same date. We have not received a reply from Verizon Wireless, but Experian replied by computer generated form letter indicating that despite the documentation provided, Verizon Wireless continues to claim that the account shows as charged off with the $60 written off. Both Verizon and Experian have been presented with documentation that no amount of money was either charged off or written off. We simply want them to accept this documentation an update our credit report, deleting this negative item. If either Verizon or Experian would like additional information, we would be happy to assist in any way possible.
