I had two accounts with Verizon Wireless opened in my name. One number is 732-XXX-XXX and the other is 732-XXX-XXXX under the name XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX.
XXXXXXXX is my ex-girlfriend. In August or September I told her that I did not want to keep her line of service open and after speaking to Verizon I was given the option of closing the line or letting someone assume the coverage on her line. I chose to allow someone to assume the coverage and she had her number moved to I believe her mother's account.
During the time the account was open I never received a bill for her service because it went to her house.
On Saturday I received a letter from a collections agency stating I owed $33.75 for a past due bill on her number. That was the first time I received ANY communications regarding a payment problem.
I called XXXXXXXXand she told me that she had been told by Verizon that she was current.
What I think happened is that her account was transferred in the middle of a billing cycle and after the transfer they were unable to see the old account information so she was not told about the money that was owed.
Because I was never notified about the past due amount I want you to have it removed from my credit reports. I will pay the past due amount myself and then take it up with Danielle for reimbursement.
If this is acceptable please call me at work. My number there is 732-XXX-XXXX X5015.
