Fraudulent activity on internet service

I have two cell phones, a home phone, and home internet through verizon. My bill was $617 this month! My internet service was charged for 43GB of usage and my allowance is 5GB. After speaking with customer service and the fraud department, I was told that my "hot spot" was hijacked by a hacker. They are willing to reduce my overage charges by 50%. To me, this is not enough. I am notified every Christmas by my credit card companies asking me if I made certain large purchases. Why was I not notified of questionable fraudulent activity on my wireless network?
I would like the $380 of overage charges removed from my bill. I would also like to return the hot spot device for a full refund of $100 and the ability to opt out of my contract without paying an early termination fee. If this has happened once, I want to prevent it from happening again. I do not wish to have verizon as my internet carrier.
