Very Dissatisfied with shopping experience at Collin Creek Plano, TX location

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

I would like to write to you about at the Victoria's Secret Store in the Collin Creek Mall in Plano, TX. This is the first opportunity that I have had to write you regarding this issue. There are two things that I would like to address in this letter, an experience that I had when I visited this store on 04-26-08 and the second being a constant problem that I have had with this store for some time.
I had gone to your store in the Collin Creek mall in Plano, to check out some items that I was possibly interested in buying as well, seeing about getting some VS cotton hip hugger panties. When I did not see the cotton hip hugger panties I asked the sale person if they had any. The sales person informed me that the cotton hip hugger panties had been discontinued, and stated that they have the hip huggers in a different style. I than informed the sales person that they where available on the website, she than proceeded to tell me that she was told the same thing by another consumer. She than stated that they had not gotten any of the cotton hip huggers since Christmas, this greatly upset me, instead of saying "Sorry we have not had that item in stock since Christmas" or "We no longer carry that style. " I felt like I was being completely lied to. It is at this point that I decide that I just go ahead and place an order online for the items I planning on purchasing since the website was offering free shipping on orders of $100 or more.
There was only one other item interested in purchasing, since the store has a better deal than ordering this online, which was the Strawberries and Champagne Shower scrub. This leads me to my second complaint. One of the main reason's that I do not like shopping at the Collin Creek is that every time that I had gone into that to purchase my lotions, splash, and scrub they are always out of stock on something either my favorite lotion, scrub, or splash, and this is one of the main reasons why I had to resort it ordering theses items online. For years unfortunately the Collin creek store is the only Victoria's Secret Store closet to me at this time and I have noticed this problem for quite sometime. I never have this problem with the other stores in the area, and if it was more convenient I would shop at those stores instead of having to go though the inconvenience of ordering the items online, or having to go a store on the other side of town.
If I had not been lied to I probably would have purchased the items that I ended up buying online at the store instead and just purchased the hip luggers online and had them shipped. Bad consumer service, and a bad experience cost this store a very significant sale, and I doubt I will be giving me giving this store any more of my business in the future . From now I plan on shopping at the new store that is opening up at Watters Creek in Allen, TX since this location is closer to where I live.

I am not sure if there is anything that Victoria's Secret can do to amend this bad shopping experience.

When I worked in retail, I worked for two different cosmetic lines in
a national department store chain, and we had the same problem. It
would be almost impossible for each store to carry every single item
that is available with a company. To take cosmetics as an example,
since the letter writer had an issue with VS cosmetic items, if a
particular color of foundation just doesn't sell that fast in a
particular market, it won't be kept in stock. If it's a smaller store
that she's shopping at, it's even more of an issue, because there just
isn't room for everything, which is why you will often see a better
selection online. In my experience, once something is being fazed out
or discontinued, if it's sold out in the store it won't be restocked,
but will continue to be offered online until it is sold out. The
biggest frustration I always had was that we never knew something was
discontinued until months after we had sold out, and kept requesting
it for our customers. Maybe if VS would communicate discontinuations
to their stores better, the letter writer wouldn't have been so
frustrated with the employee. I don't think the employee was lying to
her, I think she just didn't know what was going on with the panties.
Not necessarily the employee's fault, how is she supposed to know if
she's not told by her manager or the company?

As a former employee-they were discontinued in the store...the company
doesn't always tell associates if they are permanently discontinued or
not. Some things make a comeback. And the Catalog and Online are a
different part of the corporation so we have no control what they have
and we don't. As well as stock...that is not the associates fault.
It is extremely frustrating when we'd have customers come in and yell
at us about something being out of stock. The individual stores do not
get to pick and choose what stock they get it-they receive a list of
what they are going to get that day. Its not a simple order form.

The website/catalog contain a lot of items that are no longer
available in the stores.

I wore a certain style bra; I was unhappy when it was no longer
carried instore. This same style has, however, been available in the
catalogs for years since, in new colors and patterns.

I think VS is trying to keep long-time customers happy by making
favorite items available while luring new customers, and encouraging
the long-timers to try new products.

I with they'd carry the pants in the stores. I don't want to deal
with the hassle of trying to return a mail/Internet item.

How did she lie to you? She told you they were discontinued and they
did not have them since Christmas.

Many times when a retailer is going to discontinue an item, they stop
shipping it to the stores but put their remaining stock up for sale on
the website.

As far as the scents go, they just might not get much call for your
favorite scent at that store.

It doesn't sound like she lied to you at all. She just didn't tell you
what you wanted to hear. Contrary to what you may think, *most*
employees would rather have the in store sale, since the economy is so
poor, and goals are higher than last year. I know at my old store we
had to do 4% more a month from the year before. And if I did so, I got
a hefty bonus, so I wanted people to buy their stuff from me, not
online.

1. You sound like you're making a huge deal over UNDERWEAR. All of
my underwear is from Victoria's Secret. I order it online so I don't
have to go into the store and be assaulted by the ridiculously
overwhelming "fragrance" department in the store.

2. THe best thing VS could do for shoppers is to eliminate the whole
line of stinky crap. Scented lotions and perfumes have been banned at
my workplace--and VS was at the top of the banning list. It shouldn't
be worn in public.

Signed,
Someone in favor of a fragrance-free workplace and website

and then: "She than stated that they had not gotten any of the cotton
hip huggers since Christmas, this greatly upset me, instead of saying
"Sorry we have not had that item in stock since Christmas..." "I felt
like I was being completely lied to. "

Absent the word "sorry" it sounds like the salesperson essentially
told you they don't carry that item in the store anymre. Maybe I'm
not understanding, but I don't see what the salesperson did that
approached lying.
