Hazardous condition at Villa Pizza

On Monday November 2, 2009 me and my 3.5 year old daughter went to Citrus Park Town Center (Tampa, Fl). She wanted pizza for lunch so we stopped into the food court and I was odering food: one slice of cheese pizza, one apple juice, and one diet pepsi. The Pizza Villa has a thing on the outside counter that is used to slide trays across as if you were grabbing food from a buffet or at hospital/school cafeteria. One of the large metal brackets that is stationed and nailed in the the counter that supports the metal bars laying on top of it was wrapped in masking tape. Then the bracket directly in front of me, and directly below the register was literally bent sideways. Leaving a VERY SHARP metal piece on which i SLICED MY FINGER OPEN ON (which took over an hour to stop bleeding)... and which just so happen to be EYE LEVEL with my daughter. They guy behind the counter did absolutely nothing but offered me a napkin for the blood that was gushing for my finger and the manager did absolutely nothing but said that she was new and was waiting to see the owners. REALLY? what if it was my DAUGHTERS FACE? EYE? HEAD? MOUTH? I was not even offered a comp on my food. SERIOUSLY?
I want it FIXED so that it DOES NOT HAPPEN to a child and I want my money back.
Ashley

I don't know why you didn't ask for a bandage of some kind, and I don't know why they didn't offer. They are idiots. However, you took the food, you ate it. I don't think you're due any money at all. But I definitely think you should contact mall management -- they likely would be after a food court tenant to fix this pronto.

This is clearly one of those cases where they put a new person in the store who either doesn't know how to handle non-standard situations or has been told that he's not empowered to do so.
This is exactly why I'm amazed when I hear that there is no manager on site. How can that be? This implies (as is shown here) that you've left someone that's not able to do anything but sell pizza.
What'd happen if there was a fire? A robbery? Someone cutting their finger open?
Anyway, in this case, I think a cut finger that bleeds for over an hour (Ashley, you might want to visit your doctor to see if you have hemophilia or some other medical problem where you can't clot properly -- this sounds dangerous) is sufficient, such that "what if my daughter" isn't even relevant. The person in the store should have been be trained how to handle something like this or should have been able to get an immediate response from the manager/owner.
If this were me, I'd have asked for the owner's contact information.

Were you at a mall (not familiar with that area)? If so, the mall may have a security/customer service staff that you could go to. If the Pizza Villa was not responsive, perhaps the mall management will be.
