Vizio tv

Posted Tue August 7, 2012 6:51 pm, by Judy C. written to Vizio Inc.

In Feb. 2009, I bought a 22" Vizio tv. On Jan. 28, 2012 I bought a 32" Vizio tv. Shortly after I bought the 32" tv, the 22" tv died. This tv was rarely used. It was bought for my mother who died just 2 months later. I took it and used it just to tape occasional shows. Of course, it was no longer under warranty and would cost too much to fix, so I just got rid of that tv. Now, only 6 months after I bought the 32" tv, it has died. I called Vizio. They say that since I bought it from an unauthorized retailer (Secondipity.com), they won't honor the warranty. When I asked how I was supposed to know that they were unauthorized, I was told that any time I buy a tv I should call the maker to confirm that the seller is an authorized retailer. Bottom line, their tvs are not made to last. The first one lasted 3 years, the second one lasted 6 months. I told them I would never buy another Vizio and would tell everyone I know that they're junk.

Stand behind it's warranty. If they made good products, they should have no problem standing behind them.

It's a second hand site - pretty much everything on there is used - it
states it right in the listing. It is right on their site.

Are these new items?

Unless the product you purchase is specifically labeled new, none of
our products are brand new. All our items are either store returns
that were brought back by the customer with the unit itself unopened,
or open box returns which were tested at our facility and either
confirmed fully functional or returned to a fully functional state. If
you are looking only for new items, we do have them from time-to-time,
but it is not our specialty.

And right on the bottom of the front page there are several links in
bold lettering "faq's" "about" and so on. It isn't hidden information
that this is a re-sale site.

That makes sense to me.

Did you check on their website to see whether or not Secondipity.com
was an unauthorized dealer before posting this complaint on
planetfeedback?

Warranties
All property purchased via the secondipity Web site is warrantied as
merchantable for a period of 30 days from the date of purchase.
Secondipity expressly disclaims any additional warranties or
guaranties, including fitness for a particular purpose. Secondipity
is not a manufacturer or an agent or distributor of any manufacturer.
Buyers should look to the product manufacturer for all additional
warranties, if any.

*******
One needs to remember that these have had one or maybe two previous
owners, were reconditioned, are basically used and are sold as such
and are declared to be merchantable ( whatever that means ) for 30
days.
