Tricare Not Accepted at Walgreen's Pharmacies

I always check with my insurance to see where it's accepted and where
it isn't. I've always considered it MY responsibility to find out
where I can and can't use insurance. That's just how it's always been,
and I've taken it for granted.

I don't know what Walgreen's does and doesn't accept, but both lists
are probably fairly lengthy, so I don't know how practical posting a
sign would actually be.

Just to let everybody know, tricare has a web site you can sign up
for various email newsletters that keep you informed I received a
alert that walgreens was being removed from the acceptable list on a
certain date YOu need to stay informed it is not walgreens
responsibility

It's not practical to post of a list of all the insurance plans that
they accept or don't accept. There are, quite literally, thousands of
different plans and variations on plans. They would need to paper an
entire wall.

If you'd been in the ER, why not just use the hospital pharmacy?
Surely that pharmacy would take Tricare, wouldn't it?

It was not a secret that Tricare was not going to be accepted by
Walgreens beginning January. This has to do with Express Scripts(which
Tricare is a part of) and Walgreens not coming to an agreement
regarding insurance payments. In fact, Express Scripts and Walgreens
began to send out letters stating this back in September. Walgreens
was also very vocal about this in the form of advertisements all over
their stores and pharmacy staff were notifying patients of this and
passing out forms so that patients could contact their insurance and
speak their thoughts on it. Not only that, Walgreens competitors were
also very vocal about it in the form of advertisements all over their
stores and flyers informing patients that they take Express Scripts
and you can transfer a Walgreens prescription over when necessary.
Walgreens and Express Scripts recently came up with an agreement and
Express Scripts patients can go back to Walgreens beginning September
15th.

Tricare used to be carried at Walgreens, but there was a dispute with
something between Tricare (South?) and Walgreens. The matter has since
been resolved, but Tricare won't be back in Walgreens until September.

So they dont have a list, do you know how many insurance companies
they take and dont take?

And you would still waste time going into the store and then time
reading the sign only to find out they dont take your card.
