Store Policies Hidden From The Buyer?

I purchased an air mattress from the Happy Valley Rd, Phoenix AZ store on Friday March 30th. The mattress was inflated at home and would not hold air, so I returned to the store and exchanged it on Saturday March 31. The mattress was again inflated at home and lost all air about 2 hours after I tried to sleep on it. Frustrated, I went back to the store on Sunday April 1st, and just wanted to return the mattress so I could go to a sporting goods store and buy a good quality mattress. At customer service I was advised that they would not return the air mattress as it is against company policy to take returns on air mattress. I inquired as to the location of the air mattress return policy and was informed that it was listed in the department on a sign and on an almost totally obscured sign at customer service. With a manager (who's name I didn't get), I went to the sporting goods department and the manager was unable to show me the alleged sign. On out return to the front of the store, I was shown a sign 3/4 covered by the coinstar machine (so not clearly viewable) that they didn't take back air mattress, only did exchanges. It should be noted though that the manager had to have an associate slide the machine out so I could see the entire sign and actually read it. I ended up calling customer service four times and the district manager authorized the return, however after how I was treated by the management at the Happy Valley store, I will make sure to never shop in that location again and advise all I know to go to any other WalMart in Phoenix.

Walmart needs to have better and more prominently placed/viewable signage of their policies in the store so that unsuspecting customers are not verbally abused by the management for not knowing the policy.

this is why it's best to check the return policy before buying.

i know it's easy to say "but i can't find it" after you try returning
it... but even if it had been easier to find - would you have read it
before purchasing?

iirc the special policies for mattresses isn't really for "renting"
prevention but because of health code issues.

kinda like the same reason you can't return used bathing suits except
for even exchanges etc.

So if the coin star machine was not in the way when you bought it you
would have walked out without the matress?

The reason they do this is to prevent people from renting the matress
for the weekend then bringing it back.
