Please Bring Back Layaway, WalMart

Please bring back layaway for this Christmas season. I would love to give my Christmas money to your store, but I'm afraid if you don't offer layaway, I will have to shop somewhere that does (ie - KMart).

I think during this recession, it would be wise for stores to bring
back layaway. However, I feel sorry for the employees who would have
to deal with layaway madness.

i've never seen the benefit of lay away. i am saying that from the
point of view of a single mother.

i have been a single mother for 5 years. during that time, i worked (2
jobs) and went to school full time. i never considered lay away.

what i did consider is buying items that were on sale even if it was
in january. hmm....my daughter wants barbie dolls....i see an add at
wal mart for $5 barbie dolls...it's january. what do i do? i go and
buy 3 barbie dolls for $15 dollars in january instead of waiting until
december when they are $15 a piece. i put the dolls in the closet.

i had no help from anyone...no parents giving me money....i was lucky
to pay all my bills on time. i still have managed to give my children
WONDERFUL chrismas's without layaway. christmas
tree..decorations...bicycles with bows...the whole nine yards. it
definitely wasn't because i had extra money to spare. it was because i
thought ahead. i looked for deals. i clipped coupons. i bought gift
bags and bows right after christmas when they were 75% off. do you
know how cheap wal mart sells things for the days after christmas? i'm
not into real trees. as a single mother, it's just not feasible for me
to go out and buy a real tree every year. i got a HUGE, pre-lit tree
for 20+ dollars after christmas that was normally 100+.

ever heard of bendaroos? normally they are 30 dollars...i found them
on sale for 10 bucks! my children LOOOVE bendaroos! i could've put a
box of bendaroos on layaway and paid 30+ dollars for them, or i
could've looked for a sale when they were $10 and put them up in the
closet. it's worked out well.
my children get compliments on how well dressed they are all the time.
my daughter is in kindergarten, and her teacher makes a comment almost
DAILY on how cute she is dressed. is it because i can afford the most
expensive clothes? NO WAY! i'm poor! it's because i buy summer clothes
during the winter and winter clothes during the summer.

lay away is evil.

Oh, and by the way, your closest Kmart is about 200 miles away, near
longview.

If you are going to use that as a threat, make sure you dont mention
that you live in Arlington Texas.

There arent any nearby at all!

Good Day

Tell me about "have to shop somewhere that does..."

Can you explain what the bar is to shopping at a place without
layaway?

There are many alternatives to layaway. You can choose the items you
want and find out the cost, and save the money personally. Another
option is to use a special bank account - my credit union has a high
interest "christmas club" account that you can put money in throughout
the year, and it is available in November. You may want to further
investigate these options as layaway seems to be a thing of the past.
