Walmart store is going DOWN, DOWN, DOWN!!!

Posted Tue March 25, 2008 10:29 pm, by Beth S. written to Walmart

I have 2 Walmarts in my area. One is VERY close (Store #929, 10855 So. Us Hwy #1, Port St Lucie, FL 34952, (772) 335-5359) and the other is about 25 minutes away (Store #3527, 1675 St. Lucie West Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986, (772) 873-2221).

Because of the employees in store #929 I wind up going to store #3527 all the time. The people that work in store #929 are terrible. The greeter never gets up and you have to walk all the way to the back of the holding area where the carts are to get a cart because the greeters just sit there and won't even look at you. Most of the time they are on their cell phones. Then you go into the store and can not buy open food (like cakes and fresh bread) there most times because the place is so dirty looking. If you are looking for an item, then good luck!! The employees are no help at all IF YOU CAN FIND ONE TO ASSIST YOU. If you try to speak to a manager they don't even come over to you and when you can finally get one to listen they just look at you with a blank expression and then rush you away.

I waited one night at the customer service desk for 45 minutes, just to try to locate an item. When it was finally my turn (there was only 1 person actually working the desk even though there were more than 4 people behind it) She looked at me dumbfounded and said she had no idea what I was talking about. I had to tell her to find me an associate in the toy department and then describe the whole thing all over again over the phone/intercom to the person in the department and then they NEVER got back to me. And the girl behind the counter wouldn't answer me anymore. told me I had to wait in line AGAIN. This weekend I went there on Sunday at 3:00 pm to pick up a prescription for my heart meds and the pharmacy was closed. I looked for someone to help me for 20 minutes. Finally found someone. Asked my question. She said sorry can't help you, I don't work in that department and started to walk away. I said well can you find someone that CAN help me??? She sighed loudly, gave me a dirty look and then tried to walk away again. I followed and asked her if she was finding someone to help me. Her answer . . . "Well, what does it look like I'm doing???"

I run across problems similar to that in Store #929 all the time. It is so exasperating!!

I would like Walmart to seriously consider closing that store or hiring a whole new crew. I have gone there at all different times of day, evening and even late night. It isn't just one particular crew that is like this. It's all the employees that I have come into contact with. they are arrogant and rude and just not trying to help the consumers at all. I know I'm not the only shopper that feels this way. I have heard people complaning all the time and a lot of people in my job (which is 1 block away) won't shop there either. The also go to the other store #3527 whihc is further and out of the way for us.

I think that they should send some secret shoppers there as well. Just to keep store #929 on their toes and maybe improve the experience for the consumers as well as the employees.

They can't open the pharmacyfor you just because you waited too long
to get your medication. It's Sunday, it closes early! You obviously
use that pharmacy, so you should be able to read the signs that state
the hours they're open.

why are you apologizing mom? its not your fault. I see the good in
many employees at WalMart, you just gotta find them. Those money bags
up above should be apologizing, they should get a taste of how it
feels to work at store level, I bet they wouldn't last a minute!

by momof6 Posted Wed April 2, 2008 @ 10:36 AM

I know saying this won't really help, but I truly apologize.
I work at Wal-Mart. I however, have never treated customers with
disrespect. If someone asks me for something, I go get it for them. If
they have a complaint, I listen (not much I can do though).
The managers and customer service reps (completely different than an
associate..for those that don't know) at my store are LESS than
As long as people keep shopping at wal-mart..it won't get any better.
I purchase minimal items there, mostly on break when I need a
snack/drink. Target is my store of choice.

i live in springfield missouri and our wal marts are awesome. i think
it has more to do with what kind of people live in a certain area
rather than wal mart itself. in some parts of the country there just
isn't a good work pool to choose from. it's different here.
springfield really is different from every place i've ever been and
i've been to a lot of places. we are friendly, chatty, and open. of
course, we have our bad apples, but they are the exception, not the

I think everyone can relate to your horror. But, they are the 2nd

think there is anything anyone could ever do to take them down.

Enough complaints about one stores customer service could however
prompt executives to inquire into the store and possibly replace

I have never, ever had a problem with Wal-Mart! I am appalled by the
way you were treated, I live in MN and I travel to many of the
Wal-Mart stores near my home and some that are close to the Wisconsin
border or just over the border, I'm always greeted by someone
friendly, some one is always there in poor weather to wipe water off
the carts, or snow, and ask if they can direct you to the proper
I am not very tall so products up high are always a problem, and I
never have an issue with a person turning me away when I ask for
assistance reaching something. I feel sorry the you the way you were
treated. I have had great experiences with this store, they have been
clean, well ventilated, and always personable. Management really needs
an overhaul if this is the case where you live. I for one am happy to
shop in such a pleasant store. Good luck in finding a store you find
to your liking and within your price range, I sincerely hope Wal-Mart
gets wind of the poor treatment where you live. this is unacceptable.

by valkyrie Posted Fri March 28, 2008 @ 2:27 PM

yeah, your little complaint is really going to tank a store in the one
of the largest, most evil companies in the world. don't you think
people have had bigger problems than yours with walmart? is walmart
still here? yes.

if you want better service, go to a better store. i know that's
generally not the advice people give here, but walmart is pretty much
a lost cause.

Welcome to walmart. No matter whos rude, or what happens, Walmart
can't, and will never lose business.Secret shoppers won't help,but
there are staff who do care, I have seen before.

You get what you pay for, with stores like Walmart. It's like Mcdonalds
and such, they dont get paid a whole lot and get treated like
garbage,so dont expect much.

"Save Money, Live Better"

"Don't Worry, Be Happy"

What is it with Wal Mart?

The ones near me are the same. One stinks, the managers are clueless,
if you can find one, and I swear they must pipe crack cocaine through
the vents to keep people going. It's packed to the gills. I wouldn't
let my dog walk past it.

And another store further away, is the direct opposite. It's spotless,
well run, and the managers are all proactive. It's just not worth the
trip for me to shop there frequently.

I'll shop any Target, anyday.

by Towser44 Posted Wed March 26, 2008 @ 9:05 PM

I recently read an article on cnn that told how walmart is suing a
former employee who was in an accident for her settlement money. This
money was payed the money in order to care for her for the rest of her
life as she is now permanently mentally disabled. They say they are
recouping money they previously paid out in insurance. You shouldn't
shop at ANY walmart ANY more.

I also live in PSL, and I too have horror stories about the US 1
store. Luckily I now live right next to the one on Gatlin which is
remarkable better (after it worked out a few glitches). You should
speak with the store manager about your experiences, hopefully he or
she will take the initiative to make the needed improvements in
customer service. GOOD LUCK!

This branch sounds like a complete nightmare. I think I'd go to the
other one even if it meant a few extra miles just for peace of mind.
It's one thing to have one bad experience but this place sounds as if
they are running themselves into the ground.
Good luck, I hope they respond to your letter.

by RedheadwGlasses Posted Wed March 26, 2008 @ 8:45 AM

Show me a lousy store (or restaurant) and I'll show you a lousy
manager. THe employees are only as good as the manager expects them
to be.

by d0rkiishchris Posted Wed March 26, 2008 @ 1:47 AM

why do you expect so much from a freaking wal-mart? Its wal-mart,
don't expect good customer service, quite frankly, they don't pay
their employees enough to be any good.

they need to replace the manager. Obviously he or she is not enforcing
even minimal standards of customer service.

I don't expect great, or even adequate service at Wal-Mart. It's the
nature of the beast. They don't pay well enough ot treat their people
well enough to retain quality employees (though some, thankfully, rise
above their conditions). But this sounds poor even by Wal-Mart

Don't expect them to close the whole store--that's not going to
happen. But they can start by replacing the manager.

If you expect customer service at Wal Mart, good luck to you.

If you find a Wal Mart that has good customer service, and you want to
shop at Wal Mart, go to that store. I live in a decent area, but the
Wal Mart seems to attact an odd out of town crowd, and I wouldn't be
surprised if the CSR's intentionally avoid dealing with the customers.
As strange as that is to say, I wouldn't doubt it.

I'm sure they do. I personally don't care for Wal-Mart all that much
but I do like the low prices. And I go there for my crochet stuff.

Good luck with this.
