I think places like this have hidden video cameras in the store. Next thing you know she will be appearing on "CAUGHT ON TAPE" or "CAUGHT IN THE ACT: STEALING FROM AN EMPLOYER!"

For all of you who say she is lying:
From a former Wendys' employee, she accurately described one version of our polo shirt uniforms (zips up instead of buttons).
I think the OP is trying to be a good person, however, PlanetFeedback was not the best place to post her concern.
It's the manager's responsibility to catch employees who are stealing money.
And if her drawer comes up short at the end of the day, she will get written up, and when you get two cash write ups, you are kicked off register and moved to the line.

Personally, I don't believe one word of this letter.
I think it's just a typical April Smith ploy to bait all the 'PFB meanies' into responding, so that she, in turn, can respond with all her 'you're all so mean' rhetoric.
Oh, and lets not forget the always entertaining, "I don't know why I bother to come here" remark.
The horse is dead, April. Stop beating it.

Did you not just park your vehicle, go into the store and ask for the manager in order to report this versus sending a letter when you can't even identify the store number because you don't have a receipt?
I get you're trying to be the good citizen here, but you could have made more of an effort. And you're also assuming that what you supposedly witnessed was stealing. You could be wrong as other posters have pointed out. Did you consider that? I'm sure you did!

While at Wendy's on some day at some time, I was working at the drive through. I do not have a watch so I have no specific time or date.
As a customer pulled up to the second window to receive food, I was busy attending to a customer complaining that we didn't have a child changing table. However, during this time, I observed a non-black female sitting in a car smoking from a crack pipe. I am not going to speculate whether it was crack-cocaine or if it was a something legal. I am simply stating what I saw. I believe she was in a car made of metal but I can't be certain.
I didn't see much of her face. Just some non-black skin and a crack pipe.
I didn't investigate further because it was cold out. I figured that writing a letter days after the fact to Planet Feedback would somehow help.
Love your web site!

If you saw the person doing this it could have been a manager doing a skim on the cashiers drawer and putting it in a "safe" place until she could get to the office safe.
I find it somewhat hard to believe if it was someone stealing would be so stupidly obvious in doing what you said you saw.

If you go to www.wendys.com and go to the upper right hand corner, you can put in the zip code. A list of towns and cities comes up and their store numbers are right next to them.

It's been a bit since I've been to a Wendy's, but don't the employees wear uniforms?
Wouldn't they consistently have a zipper near the collar? Or not?

So very nice to see an "April Smith" letter that makes sense! "I didn't get a receipt, so I don't know the store number or specfic time" after giving an approximate time concisely sums up the reason why there's no "exact time" and is very important for them to be able to trace when it could have happened
The only other thing that could probably have been included were the exact details of what was ordered so they could match the stores records for that time period, just in case it was 4:49 or before or 5:31 or after, but definately before whatever time it closes.
But other than that it's just perfect!
Adding the approximate five minute wait after reaching the second window was also very saavy, and another piece of the investigative puzzle we see that often makes or breaks an episode of "Law and Order" on T.V.
But the key information that will surely help corporate to get to the bottom of this "Nancy Drew Mystery" lie in the following quote directly from the letter itself:
"a black female employee walking away from the front counter register and stuffing cash into the top of her shirt. I am not going to speculate whether she stole the money or if it was her own. I am simply stating what I saw. I belive she had a shirt with a zipper near the collar but can't be certain."
This is a very polite and accurate account of the observation she's reporting on, and I really think it's pivotal to cracking this case, moreso than any other bit of information provided so far. But what if there are more than one "Black Female" employees who dress the same way and were on duty at the same time?
I do like the "not going to speculate" part, because it takes away any implication of an accusation or implication of a crime being committed.
The closing line seals it for me. After reporting the incident to corporate as she observed it, she closes by making another observation:
"Love Your Food!"
Excellent Job, April, and I look forward to seeing more letters from you in the future!

It's a good thing you're reporting it. Maybe, just incase they don't read the letter come in when you have time and talk to the manager. Wendy's probably gets numerous letters via internet and probably don't read many. I'd make sure to talk to someone in person just incase. Thanks for reporting it though.

I wonder if the employees were staring into your car and saw something suspicious. Maybe they suspected you of drug use, and reported your license plate to the police. Maybe the employees just reported what they saw.

Sorry, but I have a hard time believing this. If you really did see this, it wouldn't have taken but an extra minute or two to ask for a manager, tell him/her what happened and go on with your day.
BTW, if it did happen, then the cameras that are trained at the registers will catch this.
Next time, say something.

Says that you're from "any town, Illinois." Is that right?
Anyway, I'm not sure I understand why you're writing a letter to the corporate office. If you witness something that might be a crime, call the police.
